Electronic Arts To Make 7 New Wii Games

“NEW YORK, Nov 02, 2007 (AP via COMTEX) — Shares of Electronic Arts Inc. rose in premarket trading Friday after the video game publisher said it expects a “great” holiday season.
The Redwood City, Calif., maker known for its sports games like the perennially popular “Madden NFL” series, reported a fiscal second-quarter loss after the bell Thursday, due mostly to an accounting charge. But on an adjusted basis, results beat Wall Street exceptions.
Electronic Arts shares added $2.36, or 4 percent, to $61.10 in the premarket session, from their close Thursday at $58.74.
Electronic Arts said it will release seven titles for the best-selling Nintendo Wii console in time for the holidays, answering critics who have said it didn’t produce enough games for the system and will offer five titles for Nintendo’s DS handheld. Chief Financial Officer Warren Jenson told the Associated Press the company was “late to the Wii, but this year, we plan to launch 10 to 15 games for the Wii and DS.”
