New Super Mario Bros Wii – It’s Hard

I'll finally admit that I was wrong about you.
So recently MTV Multiplayer previewed New Super Mario Bros for the Wii, and apparently very much unlike the DS version it’s hard.
I went in expecting instant success, I left with zero lives and a lower sense of self worth.
Another shock, for me at least, is that this is actually why the computer was implemented:
And that’s where the “Super Guide” [Computer] comes in. Again, go ahead and scoff. I did. But with such a ramped up difficulty, it makes a lot of sense to let the computer handle the tricky bits for folks.
It’s because of the Super Guide that the developers were able to crank up the difficulty, knowing that they no longer needed to make the game for the lowest-skilled player. So you’re left with what’s arguably the most hardcore Mario game you’ve ever played.
And of course if you haven’t read Ballad’s article on how to unlock the mode, you must lose level 8 eight times, which is actually the level Russ Frushtick previewed in his article.
