Project Monster – DS Title From Developer DreamRift

IGN has an exclusive world debut announcement of Project Monster (working title), a game from DreamRift, a development team combining talent that has worked on Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, The Red Star, Dementium: The Ward, Guitar Hero III, and most notably Henry Hatsworth. This side-scrolling adventure–which draws elements from Mario, Mega Man, and Metroid–puts you in control of Ellie who discovers a magical monster named Chomp. Chomp can assist Ellie in a variety of platforming mechanics, such as allowing her to double jump, and can also be used for combat purposes. Like Henry Hatsworth, there’s a whole different game happening on the bottom screen, as you train Chomp with food, toys, and items and raise him to be the best monster he can be.
Though the game does not have a publisher yet, DreamRift predicts a release date of sometime in the later half of 2010. Check out the IGN article for the full interview with DreamRift creative director Peter Ong and see some more details on the game. Project Monster looks like it could have all the charm and quality gameplay that Henry Hatsworth had, though hopefully with more exposure to DS owners.
