The recent announcement of NBA Jam on the Wii has sparked a lot of nostalgic musings, but now the first details on the game are trickling in. Fans of the old NBA Jam and Hangtime games should be pleased to see several classic features returning, such as cheats, fire, and big head mode. Additionally, the Wii game ups the ante to three on three matches, and features either motion controls or traditional controls with the Wii remote held sideways. The game will also feature 3D bodies with 2D images of real basketball players’ faces, which should either be really weird or really awesome. See below for the full list of details:

- Classic Campaign: 3v3, shot clock and goaltending regulations
- Remix Tour: tweaks the traditional rules and regulations of NBA Jam
- multiple dunks
- spin move to avoid the shove
- faces on characters are actually photographs of the real players’ faces
- each character has 3 faces while running the court, 2 dunk faces, and a positive/negative face
- motion control player or classic NES style
- a list of features making it into the game:

Fire
Shattering Backboard
Cheats
Flashing Shoes
Flashing ball
Big Head Mode
Legends
Playable Mascots
Secret Characters
