Netflix for Wii Officially Launched
The official partnership between Nintendo and Netflix has officially begun. Now, (almost) anyone can stream thousands of movies and TV shows to their Wii console with a broadband Internet connection, a Netflix unlimited membership and a Netflix instant streaming disc.
According to an official press release, the Wii now reaches more consumers than any other device that currently supports streaming movies from Netflix.
Granted, some people have already received the streaming disc before today (and some have reported a few issues with it, unfortunately), but now with the official launch, it’s sure to put some other platforms on notice, both those currently with and without the service.
For the record, the Xbox360 received the service in late 2008, with the PS3 following in late 2009.
