Sonic Colors Release Date, Box Art, and Trailer

SEGA has officially announced that Sonic Colors will be released on November 16, 2010. With this announcement, they’ve also revealed the box art and a new trailer. Based on the previous preview and screenshots, I tried to stay cautiously optimistic. With Sonic games receiving mostly lukewarm reception from reviewers and fans alike for longer then anyone wants to remember, this latest iteration seems like a big push in the right direction. This latest trailer not only removes the “cautious” from my optimism, I can safely say this Sonic game should be fun.

With all the werehog and sword gimmicks gone, SEGA has gone back to a more classic gameplay style with a new gimmick that actually makes sense. Wisps offers Sonic a variety of different abilities; the drilling ability is showcased best in the trailer. This creates the potential for interesting new gameplay elements while keeping the fast pace. While players won’t know how it compares to past Sonic games until this November, Sonic Colors will likely be a worthy addition to any fans collection.
