Back Home From Google

Last week, I posted that I would be going to Google, and that I would try to ask a few questions about possible YouTube features for various gaming systems, and a few other things.

Most of the information that was given in regards to features are under NDA, so I can’t really discuss anything from the meetings.  I did ask the questions I said I would, but unfortunately, the information itself is still under wraps internally, and even if it wasn’t, it would have been under NDA.

The good news from this?  I still have some video game related bits to share.

Google’s buildings have plenty of games sitting around, including a bunch of oldschool arcade cabinets.  They were brought outside for everyone to play, and as you can tell from the photos, they have quite a set.

Some of the rooms indoors also featured some game inspired art, such as a wall decorated with Tetris blocks.  Unfortunately, no photos were allowed inside of Google’s buildings, so I can’t share that one with you.  Instead, you can see this photo of a post-it space invader looking outside at the passers-by of the Android building.

And of course, I thought I would share with you this rather unusual sighting of the infamous Nyan Cat:

On a bit of a side note: I also got to meet TomBobBlender, who is probably mostly known for his Mario Paint compositions on YouTube, but he also streams games live on Twitch TV (though he currently doesn’t have his streaming equipment).  He wasn’t too far from the hotel that Google placed us in, so we found some time to meet up.  Hopefully he can get his stuff back in time for his annual Shocktober event (I may be talking more about that later).

If you are interested in reading a bit more about the actual Summit, you can read my YouTurbia blog entry here.

Oh, so Google’s planning something for gamers?

  2. Pelord says:

YouTube has some developers working on a YouTube video viewing app for video game consoles. At the moment, it has only been announced for the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, they could not provide any information regarding other consoles.
