Originally starting out 6 years ago as a tech demo, Steel Diver is one of Nintendo’s many titles of which is currently in development for the 3DS. The game plans to put you in the seat of a submarine, submerged in the deep depth of water as you… well that hasn’t been answered yet. The game, as I said, is in development so obviously they still to work on some plot. It should be very interesting to see what they come up with though.

That’s right, just this morning the 5th generation titles were announced, as was what being told to us the last past week, and just like all other Pokemon fans we here at NSider2 are all jumping for joy at this announcement. The follow up’s name might show that they have truly run out of options, being Black and White and all, but that doesn’t really mean much to the average Pokemon fan.

Besides the announcement of the game a ton of screen shots were leaked this morning and featured on Serbii. These same screens showed this game to be a real advancement over what has been done in the past. The game looks amazing, looking to have a the same 3-d over head view but to a larger extent where you can get a greater feel for the environment. Here are a few of those same screens:

We’ll hopefully find out more in the upcoming days, so be sure to keep your eyes open!

Water that makes even Square-Inx jealous

With the upcoming release of Monster Hunter Tri it’s no shock to see people glancing with incredible awe at pretty screen shots of the game, or even just the amazing controller it comes with. What is slightly more shocking to see developers trying to take tips on how to improve, especially when it comes to Wii titles, one of these many developers: Mr.Miyamoto.

Yes that’s right, Mr.Miyamoto has taken some time looking at some of the screen and his been putting “considerable pressure” on his team to try and put the next Zelda title’s graphic on par or above with that Monster Hunter plans to deliver in it’s April 20th release. The next Zelda is rumored to come out either this year or next, chances are come E3 well figure out when exactly, but with this news I think it’s safe to say the next Zelda will be very purty.

So we recently just got a tip from one of our admins, Eric, in regards to another Speed Gamer marathon, this time for a autism foundation.

The Speed Gamers are a group of guys that play video games for charities, and starting today at 6pm CST, their Metroid Marathon will start.

All donations will go to HAFS (Halton Family Autistic Support Group). Show you care by donating! Also note that The Speed Gamers do give out prizes for donations, so yeah. The marathon will last for 72 hours, so bring your mana potions and coffee :U

For more about TSG, click here.

To leave a message, donate money using the Paypal ChipIn! located on the right side of the stream, and you can leave a message along with a donation!

Activison gets sued by the co-creators of Modern Warfare.

While the hit game Modern Warfare 2 has yet to come out on the Wii, find it very interesting that they are getting sued by the co-creators of the hit game (Jason West and Vince Zampella.) That’s right gentlemen it’s official -Activison is indeed the new EA. As what you can expect with any law suit by creators of any franchise this is probably over royalties, and it is, but it also highlights several qualities gamers should get a kick out of:

The filing described Activision as demonstrating “astonishing arrogance and unbridled greed,” and accuses the company of terminating the pair in order to avoid paying them “substantial” royalties from last year’s Modern Warfare 2 release, heralded as the biggest launch in entertainment history.

Via Plugged In

This isn’t exactly the first lawsuit filed against them, but it is the first to use that kind of language about them. The creators were also allegedly fired unfairly fired by Activision last Monday, however Activision states they fired West and Zampella for breach of contract and insubordination.

The lawsuit at the moment has Activision possible paying up at least 36 million to the creators and as well POSSIBLY giving up their rights to the Call of Duty franchise as a whole, making this lawsuit quite important to Activison’s future.

Yes, that’s right a new 2D sonic game is coming out for all major consoles in the Sonic 4, and as the name suggest they are most definitely cutting out all the gimmicks of previous games… or at least one can hope.

Seriously though, Sega promises that Sonic will be the only character. No Rouge. No Cream the Rabbit. And thank you almighty gaming god in the sky – no Big the Cat. Just the hedgehog we’ve come to know and love, just like the good old days.

The game picks up after Sonic and Knuckles and is also is planned to be a episodic adventure, meaning the game as a whole will be split into episodes each being released over a certain amount of time.

The game will be released this summer.
And congrats Sega, although it may be too early too tell, you finally may be doing it right.

So, for whoever hasn’t been paying attention to the forums – either Power On or the Nintendo DS board in particular – the current buzz is that of the recent “announcement” of a New DS in the works in a interview Aashi.com had with Nintendo President Satoru Iwata.

The reason why I hesitate to call this a announcement though is because it has already stated with the announcement by NVida when the came out say that next generation of their infamous chip would be developing for the new hand held; what wasn’t mentioned before in that announcement was the 1080p part which says a lot about the power of the chip. Oh and who can forget the fact that this definitely hints at the Wii getting a similar upgrade for the next generation as well, I mean with the WiiHD rumor it’s possible right?

Yes, I just had to bring that up. “Screw me,” I know. :p

Now the big news to be announced for this new DS was motion sensing! At the moment there hasn’t been much stated beside that fact “it will be able to detect the players movements” so it is uncertain as to how this would be achieved, whether it be through the use of accelerometer (most likely option in my opinion) as with the iPhone and the Zune HD, or through a camera such like that of the DSi.

Also mentioned was a possible 2010 release date for the new Zelda game showed off to the press at E3 2009, as well as a press conference for the vitality sensor.

The huge news here is the DS though, which as you can guess most Nintendo fans like myself are now hyped for, expect more at E3 this June.

Be sure to check out last week’s list by Eliwood8, as well as the list from the week before by by Balladofthewindfishes.

This decade has definitely been one of new ideas and directions. Developers, both indie and main, have made risk, bringing us new ideas risking both profit and reputation; and of course they’re was also those sad and pathetic ideas (Amazing Island) but for the most part most games were welcomed with open arms. These new ideas are something I’ve enjoyed most from the 2000s. It’s example hopefully continues throughout following decades. Right now though, let’s look back at all the fun moments we had. Here is my list for the top 10 games of the decade!

Remember to note the fact this is a opinion of a lowly writer on some Nintendo News website who may or may not like/have played the same games as you. So try not to persecute me.

World of Goo
October 13, 2008
Developed by: 2d Boy
Publisher by: Brighter Minds

World of Goo was truly a speculator work of art, especially when compared to other Wii Ware games. It is not only a original concept but a game which provide me hours of fun, but also the idea is simple: connect the goos and create a tower until you reach the goal. The level design is absolutely amazing, it can be dark, yet colorful.

The game really was, and still is, probably one of Wii Ware’s greatest third-party games. If you haven’t gotten it by now you have truly broken my heart. It’s still hard to believe that this game was made by two guys during their spare time, it’s just that good.

Guitar Hero III
October 27 2007
Developed by: Vivarious Visions
Published by: Activision

To be honest, I was very iffy about putting this on my list, but Guitar Hero really is one of the games that I’m sure we’ll be looking back on, and III was truly the peak. Not only was this the game’s first venture onto a Nintendo console but it’s also one of the Wii’s most popular online games, and one of the first third-party ones. The set list is great, you had everything from Weezer to Dragonforce, and has gained a reputation as probably one of the most popular party games – you break it out whenever you have a friend over, or whenever you just want to jam with them online.

Of course the series under Activision has been on a steady decline since the release of this III (Actvision’s first game with Guitar Hero license), but still it’s fun series and III really shall be one of the best… at least in my opinion.

Pokemon G/S/C
October 14, 2000 (Silver and Gold) July 21, 2001 (Crystal)
Developed by: Gamefreak
Published by: Nintendo

Just after Pokemon hit the states Nintendo knew they had a money maker. The first three games were hits, and the amine series was probably one of the most popular saturday morning cartoons. Nintendo, not being idiots, were quick to follow up Red, Blue and Crystal with Gold and Silver, the game which set the standard for the rest of the series – whether it be with the day or night system, or the portable “Pokegear” this game truly did lay the foundation for all the games after.

Elite Beat Agents
November 6, 2006
Developed by: iNiS
Published by: Nintendo

Straight from Japan, Elite Beat Agents really was probably one of the best, if not the best, rhythm game I had played this decade. The game takes a combination of some of the most popular songs from both today and the past the games to form one of the slightly more varied game soundtracks I have heard from a Rhythm game. Elite Beat Agents however is not just about the music, you play a group of “cheerleaders” out to motivate people to succeed when the going gets rough. Elite Beat Agents uses the songs to tell a story, something which isn’t that often seen anymore in many Rhythm games.

The game overall is one I enjoyed greatly, if you are looking for a break from the many “band” games this is your escape.

Super Smash Bros Brawl
March 9, 2008
Developed by: Sora
Published by: Nintendo

This is another one I was very iffy about putting this game here, not because Brawl was a bad game, but because the game isn’t one I feel as one that was completely polished; however despite it’s minor online flaws Brawl is truly one of the biggest games this decade has offered. With major additions such as trophy assistants, the smash ball, and the introduction of 2 popular third party characters (Sonic & Solid Snake) Brawl really is one of Nintendo’s crowing achievements. Brawl is a package deal, and even though the online is a bit crappy (…okay a little more than a bit) the game itself is a vast improvement over Melle.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
October 26, 2000
Developed by: Nintendo
Published by: Nintendo

The moon is falling and one of our favorite Nintendo heros are off to find out the cause of the problem in less than 3 days… and it turns out to be some dude in a weird mask causing all the havoc. Yes, that’s Majora’s Mask in a nutshell right there, the game itself is a amazing piece of art. Many people call Ocarina of Time the best Zelda game of all time, but Majora’s Mask was an amazing follow-up that in my opinion was superior to it’s predecessor in every way. The game felt a tad bit more vibrant (for it’s setting) and the mask certainly were a neat feature that added a bit more to it. The only grip I had with this game was the fact it introduce our good friend tingle, other than that the game is one of the best Zelda games of all time.

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
March 24, 2003
Developed by: Nintendo
Published by: Nintendo

Another Zelda game… I know I should have choose one or the other but it’s such a hard choice. Wind Waker bring you to a new “alternative universe” where Hyrule is flooded and boats are the only true way of transportation. Also: Your sister is captured by the evil Gannondorf and you have to go save her. The game main tools remain pretty much the same; only exception: instead of the ocarina you are using a baton. The baton is actually quite useful in this game as late into the game it provides you the ease of avoiding long trips and just “transporting” from place to place. The music in the game is also absolutely fanatic and the main theme is probably tops the chart as one of my favorite themes from any video game, and is actually why this game is on the list along side it’s interesting and unquie cel-design. Wind Waker is a great game, and if you haven’t already played it I recommend you do.

Mario Galaxy
November 12, 2007
Developed by: Nintendo
Published by: Nintendo

In this amazing adventure, Mario is off to rescue the princess once again… in space! When this game was shown at E3 2007 I know a lot of people were just awestruck on how amazing this game looked. It was, and still is, one of the best looking games on the Wii. How so? Well every planet just has so much detail to it –the bee planet with it’s streams, the small touches made to some of the comets. All of was just amazing. This game was probably the first good attempts at reviving the classic mario gameplay, you had many unique costumes and even more new and unique characters. The orchestrated music was also a great touch, heck the theme in this game is not far behind Wind Wakers in the list of my favorite video game themes. The game was truly a great comeback from the rage-fest that was Super Mario Sunshine, and it provided me hours of fun.

Also – U R MR.GAY (obligatory dead joke.)

No More Heroes
January 20, 2008
Developed by: Grasshopper Manufacture
Published by: Ubisoft

This is the first and only Suda51 game I have ever played sadly, and it’s also one of my favorite games of all time. You follow Travis Touchdown, a geek and wrestling fanatic who watches a lot of… suggestive material on a daily biases. One day Touchdown wins a beam kotana in a internet auction, wasting pretty much all of his money on it. This is when he meets the fascinating Sylva who offers him some work… to kill the 11th ranked assassin in what is known United Assassins Association, or the UAA. This eventually becomes his main source of income, until the end where he is a met with a very interesting plot twist. I won’t spoil it for you, but it’s pretty big. The game is filled humor, mostly potty humor, but still funny stuff. It’s sometimes hard to believe what comes out of Travis’s mouth. The assassins also have a great deal of back story behind them, each them are explained in great detail and each are individually different. The game is just one of those acquired taste for some, for me, it’s 2nd best game of this decade.

The World Ends With You
April 22, 2008

The World Ends with you follows Neku, a sociopath who really could care less about the world. He ends up getting involved in some game, and must win in order to get his memory back. He teams up with various other characters in order to win, and eventually he learns more about himself at the end of this then he expected. It’s a story of self-discovery, and a pretty good one despite how cliché it is at times. The battle system takes a bit of getting used to, you use the control pad to control your partner and use the stylus and at times mic to control Neku and use his pins.

Now this will either get me majorly flamed, or just very hurt. Many people consider The World Ends With You a rip-off of various other series, but really that’s not why the game gets the credit it has. The reason why The World Ends With You is so “unique” is because this is such a step away from various other works produced by Square. When you here square you usually think of Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Kingdom Hearts, or Dragon Quest. This is nothing like any of those games, this is a game that takes place in a real location, with characters that are more like us (if that makes any sense at all.) In the end of the day though, it’s not really the “uniqueness” that makes this my #1, it’s the fact that it’s a story of self-discovery I relate to very much. During my freshman year of High School I kept to myself and never bother talking to anyone but myself. I was planning to keep it that way, but as time went on people came into my life taught me about friendship. While I still joke around with my friends at time about how bad friends they can be at time, they really did teach me the importance of friendship.

They’re there to mess with you, and they’re there to make sure you don’t screw up, and they’re there for you to lean on. Neku learns that in The World Ends With You, and really in the end of the day friends are that important. Sure you may not be fighting for something every week, but you are aiming for something more all your life, and your friends are there to help you get there.

I leave you with the quote from The World Ends With You:
“I’m glad I met you guys. You made me think about things that I might have just gone on ignoring. Trust your partner… that I do.”

Most gamers should know who brentalfloss is, if you don’t get out from under that rock and check out his Youtube page because you’ve been missing probably some of the best parody songs known to gamer-kind.

Anyways, for the last past 12 days Brent has been posting videos on his Youtube page and today he decided to dish out another parody song which I’m sure most RPG-nerds like myself will love. This one goes out to anyone who has played Final Fantasy and is now one of my favorites from him since it gave me quite a few laughs this Christmas morning. I’m still trying to get back into the loop, so expect some Video game related rants sometime soon, probably within the next 2 weeks. So if you were wondering what was up with those since there hasn’t been one in along time there’s a small update for you.
