Reminders on posting in the SSB board.
Alt-accountsThere've been a few reports of people having alternate accounts being used mainly on this board. As such, IP addresses will be checked from time to time, and unless you have a family member with the same IP address, it'll be banned (usually the one with either less posts, or the one with a more-recent registration date). Please don't create alt. accounts just to flame people, regardless of whether their opinions are right or not
If it doesn't relate to Super Smash Bros, leave it elsewhereA few users have requested assistance with a new sig from time to time, and while I'm sure many of you love showing off your artistic talent, this board isn't the place to do it. While it may be Smash related, it still remains art, making this board a wrong place for it. The same goes for fanfics. While they may involve elements related to SSB, it's still essentially another form of writing.
Threads unrelating to SSB (or more closely related to writing/art) will be moved to a more suitable board, locked, or deleted, depending on the situation.
Opinions vs. FlamingA common ground of confusion between users is the definition of sharing your opinions and flaming someone. IF your opinion is negative, but you have something to back it up, it typically won't be labeled as flaming (try and make these opinions not directed towards users, and in general, attempt to avoid swearing, even if it's censored). IF your opinion does nothing but insult someone with no evidence and such, it'll then be considered flaming, and possibly resulting in a temporary ban based on the severity.
Everyone is more then welcome to freely share their opinions, but if you're aiming to insult someone, please don't simply say "They suck" (this applies to thread titles as well as posts). This is NOT meant to mean flaming is encouraged, but is a way you can avoid making it seem like you're breaking the rules if you're only giving your thoughts on something.
Duplicate ThreadsWhile it was a more-common issue on the Forum Help board on the original NSider, make sure to check for any official/general thread about whatever it is you're getting ready to make a thread about. Fortunately, the post below contains numerous links to general discussion threads, making it a nice place to visit, just in case. Keep in mind the post (and this thread) will be updated periodically as new threads capable of being utilized come about, and new board issues start to surface (you're also welcome to create a general thread about whatever hasn't been covered already, and ask a Knight to edit it into the post directly below this one).
In most cases, duplicate threads will be locked, with a link provided to a thread already covering the topic. Again, check around for any general threads before making one of your own, just in case.
SpoilersSSBB spoilers may be posted without spoiler warnings in the SSBB board ONLY. If a spoiler is posted elsewhere on the forums, a spoiler tag is required.
Non-Text spoilers ARE allowed in Sigs and Avatars. No text spoilers will be allowed in sigs, even if it has a spoiler tag.
No more then a 2 day ban will be given for each offense.
Sigs/IconsWhile not an overly-dramatic issue on this board (which I'm personally quite glad of), it doesn't hurt to give a reminder of the sig dimensions, which are still
500 pixels (width) and
250 pixels (height). Icons also remain 150 by 150, which is, in case you forgot, a lot more then what it was on NSider.
You won't be punished if your sig/icon goes over the limits by a difference of around 50 pixels (height or width), but if it causes an obvious change in the screen, you'll probably be sent a PM. You'll also be sent a PM if your sig/icon has been removed, which'll typically only happen if the content breaks a more hardened rule of the board or of NSider2. If you aren't sent a PM, send one yourself.
RankismRankism
WON'T be tolerated here, and elsewhere. Depending on the situation at hand will reflect how it gets handled.
Clan threadsAll clan threads are now held in a sub-forum specifically created for them, and will only be moved back here if the rules have been broken too many times. In addition, clan threads are now placed under their own strict set of rules, which can be read by visiting the clans board. Lastly,
no new clan threads can be created at all.Need help?If you've got a question on anything, don't be afraid to PM Ultra_Luigi, or any other staff member. We don't bite, contrary to popular belief.
Thanks much for your cooperation!
QUOTE (Nweb @ Aug 14 2008, 05:14 AM)

Due to the current circumstances, we feel that the following should be emphasized as a reminder.
Please do not post random topics on this board. If it's not directly related to Smash then don't post it and go home with it. Plain and simple. Unfortunately, it appears that some of the members enjoy posting random nonsense for the 'lulz' or what have they. This needs to stop.
Furthermore, alt account usage for the purposes of spamming up the board needs to stop as well. We are aware of a few members who think that they can spam anonymously by being Cappies and if you're one of those people then we kindly ask you to stop and respect the rules.
The board has been in a pretty bad state as of late and to help stop that we'll unfortunately need to start backing up our requests with more actions. If you are guilty of either or plan to be then please consider this your pre-suspension warning and don't pollute this board any further.
We ask members to help the staff keep the board clean by making use of the report abuse feature as well as Pms to report spam and or suspected alt account use. If you already do so then please continue to do so as your reports help a ton ^^.
Everyone’s cooperation is greatly appreciated.
