Awards Showcase

Hello there Virtual Console and WiiWare gamers.

With the launch of Nintendo's WiiWare service more game developers are getting a chance to make games for the Wii console. Now this has lead to a rather interesting amount of games to come out as of late, some good and some not so good. Well now you have a chance to design a WiiWare title of your own. While it may never get a chance to come out you still can see just what inovative ideas you can come up with for a game using the Wii console and all it's abilities.

You will need to be detailed in as many aspects of the game as you can from the story, to the controls, to the overall gameplay. Now you can do extras like make concept art and such, but the basics are the important thing in this contest.

Rules:

1) Must be you own project
2) Must be original (no ripping off a WiiWare title already in development)
3) Editing is allowed up to the end of entry period for submissions, once the entry period is over no editing is allowed or else the entry will be disqualified.

Timeframe:

This contest will be run bi-weekly meaning you have 2 weeks to come up with your design and submit it for judging. After the entries are submited and judged, the next round of entries can be submited.

Prize:

200 Rupees

Good luck to you all and have fun!

Past Winners:

- DragonKazooie89 (Chao Paradise)
- Zeldamqgc2 (Sonic the Hedgehog 4)

Do we just post it here?

Color Confusion

Genre:

Puzzle

Objective:

Similar to Tetris, "blocks" or in this case "1x1 colors" fall from the sky. It is your job to guide these colors into a 3x3 grid. Getting three colors in a row destroys the 3 blocks, earning you points. You can line them up horizontally, diagonally, and vertically. You can even destroy more then 3 at one time.

The twist is that, combining the colors will produce different shades. Example: Combining a red block and a blue block will create a purple block. The more advanced the blocks are in color, the more points you can earn. There are only three main colored blocks, and they are Red, Blue, and Yellow. But the shades can go on.

If you combine enough colors, you will eventually get a "rainbow" block. Destroy these blocks and you will (For a small period of time) Get x2 bonus points. Also, if you combine certain colors, you may get a "black" block. This block acts as a "bomb" and when set off, all block on screen will be destroyed and you will earn points for them.

Although the game is never ending, there is something to make you lose. The roof is constantly coming down at a slow pace, giving you less time to guide your blocks; but the more you destroy blocks, the roof will raise. The more complex the color, the higher it raises.

In later levels, you will get different shaped blocks. They will be 2x1 and may have two different colors. The same rules apply for combing them. Also in later levels, more advanced colors will fall down instead of you just combining them, causing you to use advanced methods of destroying blocks.

There will be online leader boards and even a head-to-head mode.

Controls:

In my next post, I explain the game using "screenshots" and explain what is happening, for those who may not understand what is happening.

Here's our playing field. As you can see, there is a red block in the process of falling. You can guide it left and right and drop it in any 1x1 square you want.

Here you can see we dropped it in the middle. We combined 3 in a row, so what happens?

Yes, they disappear.

Now let's combine two colors. Yes, it will change colors. Destroying more advanced colors = more points.

Now let's combine multiple. Destroying 3 rainbow blocks will grant you x2 points. it's risky to do, because in the time you wasted combining colors, the roof may be very close to crushing you.

Also, combing three black blocks acts as a bomb. All other blocks are destroyed.

Here's the 2x1 block. You can rotate it like so:

Here's the roof. Don't waste time, destroy blocks to bring up that roof or it will crush you and it's game over for you!

That's about it. Hope you understand what the hell is happening and that you enjoyed reading about my game. 16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

|sf>I may edit this later or add illustrations, but here's my idea.

The game is Pokemon Jong. It's a spin-off of the classic game of Mah Jong. Obviously, the game has various tile sets that are based on Pokemon. The four unopened tile sets are grouped by the Pokemon lands that they first appeared from a game, such as Kanto and Johto. It would also contain sound effects of each Pokemon when a match is made. Instead of the traditional Mah Jong categories of Wood and Bamboo, the classificiations group by Pokemon type such as Water, Grass, normal, and a misc. category.

It would have some default songs, but it would also contain two "user-generated song slots" made on a music editor in which a handful of popular Pokemon could be used as the sound effect notes to create a song (ala "Mario Paint").

In addition to the traditional Mah Jong layout, there would be about 5 different Pokemon-inspired tile layouts. The unlocking objective would be to play each of these layouts in conjunction with each tile set. After completing a puzzle, a dragon from that specific tile set Pokemon land would be the "reward dragon" picture animation. (For example, Gyrados would be for the first land/tile set.)

After completing all 24 combinations, the player would unlock the final two tile sets, which would contain a mixture of Pokemon from all four Pokemon lands.

It's called:

Intro: "2000 years into the future, the evil Gano has taken over the planet Earth. He has enslaved every one and thing. But there's a group of teens, Zach, Martin, Celina, and Caleb, who can stop him. You must utilize Zach's laser sword, Matin's shield, Celina's laser whip, and Martin's boomerang, to defeat Gano. Each moment you waste, Gano gets stronger, are you up for the challenge?"

Produced by Nintendo and Bandai

BETA FORCE

Controls: Wiimote and Nunchuk.
Toggle Stick on Nunchuk: Move; aim.
C: Jump
Z: Switch Camera Mode
A: Select
Swing Wiimote: Use weapon
B: Switch between Characters.
1: Start
2: Take Picture
D+ Pad: Move; Aim

Gameplay: You fight through about 20 levels that are about maybe ten minutes (more or less) long up to mid point, (cutsscene) until you find out (this is something Nintendo would do) Celina's a princess, and she gets kidnapped. You enter a mid castle to regain her onto your team, but a giant machine flys out and she's tied up in the back. Every five levels, you fight a boss, and this would be a mid-major boss. This boss is a giant machine Gano, that uses Celina's whip. Destroy it to regain it. Fight until the end of the game to save her. (cutscene) "Ah, Beta Force, come to rescue the princess? You will not! I will force her into marriage with me, so that I will be the true king of Earth!" ~Gano "No! It's a trap!" ~Celina. A cage falls on the Beta Force and you watch a marriage cutscene. Gano then takes Celina up into a tower. Zach manages to grab his Laser Sword and cut open the cage. They fight enemies along the way to the top. Once there, you see Celina locked in a cell, and Gano monologuing. You fight him, but he gets away. 20 or so more levels and you finish the job. You win the game, and Earth returns to normal. And a bunch of sidequests open up.

It took me a while, but that's it.
