BOARD FOR ELECTIONS COMING THIS NOVEMBER!!!

Hello Nsiders!

I would first like to thank Heather for coming up with this idea. We know that users love to have debates and with this years elections being one of the number one things to talk about thanks to Heather we are deciding to have elections of our very own.

Starting November 1st there will be a board under the Nsider2 Events section of the forum. Heather will be the LK of this board and along with the anyone from staff that participates we will run the first ever primary elections. Anyone is welcome to become a candidate by posting a thread on the board. To be a qualifying candidate one must have a party which they represent. The following are the 2 parties for this election. As you can guess these are made up from the gaming companies. Listed with the party names is a brief description of the parties standings and view point.

The RepubliKoei Party
Mascot: Gitaroo Man

This party is wanting to keep things the way they have always been. They are against adding in a ton of forum features and view them as being more of a hassle rather then a benefit. This doesn't mean they are against all forum features, but they focus more on promoting things that promote more activity on the forum itself such as the contests. The party is also strong on rule enforcement and wishes for a stricter environment close to what the old Nsider use to be, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for interpretation. Quality over Quantity!

The DemocrAtlus Party
Mascot: Prinny

Bring on the features! This group believes that the features on the forum are a huge benefit and add to the success of the forum. It's all about having fun and the more the better. This doesn't mean to go over board so that the forum is all slow, but rather they wish to give users more of a say. It's all about giving users incentives and more options. Don't imprison us with your rules either! They would rather give users more freedoms but at times when a ban is needed they will enforce it. It's all about the masses, quantity and what the users want!

So to become a candidate you must post a thread as follows:

Title: Your name
Description: Your party choice

Body: Your view point of the forum, things you like, things you would change and your view point of gaming over the years. Meaning your likes and dislikes along with any changes you would make when it comes to gaming.

We will give 2 weeks for the primaries and 1 week for the selecting of 1 candidate for each party. You may only post one thread so choose wisely. Once appointed as a candidate you get to choose whoever you like as a running mate. The user you pick did not even have to enter in the primary, but make sure you choose well because debates and interviews are going to follow.

Once the primaries are over and candidates are selected Heather will conduct a PM interview with each candidate and his or her running mate. These will be posted for all to view on the board. After there will be 3 debates for the Presidents and one debate for the VPs. These debates will be about either the forum or be related to video gaming. Each debate will be hosted in IRC chat and muted with only candidates having voice. During the debate users can submit questions to the ones hosting the debate and some will be selected and asked. After all the debates are over it will be time for the users to vote for the Nsider President and Vice President!

Prizes:

The winners will receive the Gold Medalist rank for one month, 500 rupees for the Pres. and 250 for the V.P. and each will get 2000 wii points or a $20 online gift card to EB Games / Game Stop which ever each one chooses.

Make sure if you are going to enter you take this seriously. There are going to be some big debates going on and this whole thing will be very well moderated. Anyone that spams the threads or the forums will be disqualified. You can campaign in your sigs and profiles but you can NOT go posting threads on Power On to gain support. Remember to have fun and follow all the rules in the Code of Conduct (CoC).

Thank you and good luck to all! Any comments, questions or suggestions may be posted in this thread.

Q: Can we have a third party?

I'm sorry, but we will not be doing a third party for this contest. The purpose is to really get users to think and choose one side or the other. Of course how extreme you go is really up to you. It's not set in stone that you have to be 100% for everything your selected party stands for.

Q: These parties are to extreme how can you expect a person to be all for what the party is?

Each party description is set there as a guideline for you to base your campaign off of. It is not something you have to stand firm to. Basically it's to provide you with an outline. One is more reserved while the other more liberal. Doesn't mean the reserved candidate can't support forum features, but there has to be a reasoning behind it that reflect the more conservative mind set.

So, when we post our threads, we have to make the title our username? Or can it be our real life name?

Is the nominee going to be picked solely by you, by an election, or what? Can you please explain if having "sponsors" is going to help your changes. What I am trying to get at is that how much is this thing going to be like a real election?

I'm not sure if you meant a thread, or a post, but I will post it for now and post it in a thread if I have to later.

I don't think anyone is going to pick the Republickoei party. You made it too extreme. I'd take a middle stance. Some new features are better, but if we have too many the site will be overwhelming to new users. We need some rules, but not so many that things are restricting and annoying.

You can use your real life name if you want to. We'll know it's you since you're the one posting. XD

Well the voters don't have to register so all those voting are independent.

That's a really good question. Actually the users will vote in the candidates and the users vote for the final winner. The first two weeks the board is open users can post their threads to become candidates. Once I close the posting of topics for users then I'll edit the topics with polls so that everyone can vote for which user they want to run. The two users with the most votes, one for each party, will be our running candidates and users will vote for the final candidate.

We can't have the candidates chosen like the real elections since these parties don't really exist, hence we don't have a governmental set up on the forum as far as staff. 16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I'm pretty sure this is ok 16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Title: CL
Description: DemocrAtlus Party
Body: A lot has changed from when Nsider was closed down. Some people want to keep Ns2 the same, but I think we should be different and better. We need to change, to stand out and not be just another Nintendo fansite.
Videos games have been getting easier and shorter than what they used to be. I would change this by making them more challenging and difficult. Nintendo has been focusing on the causal gamers and making more games that involve exercise. I would also focus less on that and more on what the core gamers want since they have been fans longer.

Yeah you have to wait until the board is open to apply. Please read the first post in FULL.

It's made to seem pretty extreme, but really those running get to customize it as long as it's not "too" in the middle. You still have to be firm about what you personally stand for.
