Approved by GameQber of the original NSider! IntroductionNOTE: All warm-up and regular trivia contests are hosted in ChatSpike channel #sm41triviahq. For more information, please read below! Hello and welcome to ShadowMario41’s Mario Trivia Challenge! If you’ve been itching for a great and challenging Mario trivia contest, you’ve come to the right place. However, this won’t be a cakewalk by any means. The questions will be difficult and will come at you fast and furiously so you better be on your toes! Questions can be about any and all Mario games, not just a select few. If you’re new here, it may be in your best interest to read the “How to Play” section. Questions will vary in that they will be from all of Mario’s gaming life, not just one specific era, though various “rounds” in trivia will zero-in on specific themes or genres in the Mario universe. Because of this, you may encounter questions about games that you haven’t played yet, though I try to lay off of new games until a while after release. So… let me put it nice and big for you... *SPOILER WARNING* If you are not aware of it, this was the first major trivia "Master Thread" ever established on NSider’s Mario Board. This contest is also the first on this board to have an organized item system and some sort of trivia hosted in a chat room as well. Due to this contest's grand history, it is only fair that it provides a grand trivia experience. I'm sure that you won't be disappointed! How to PlayThere are two major contests that stem from this thread regularly, Warm-Up Trivia and the Mario Trivia Challenge. Both of these contests will be held in ChatSpike, which is basically an IRC application that runs on Java, so see the section below titled “ChatSpike Information” for detailed instructions on how to access the chat room. Both of these contests run differently, though, so here is a little breakdown explaining what each one of them is. SM41’s Warm-Up TriviaThis contest, originally proposed and still hosted by Dr. Peppy, is a quick 10-question ordeal that is generally based on 1 Mario game or series. It is mainly to prepare you for the Mario Trivia Challenge, which follows the conclusion of this. If you emerge victorious or place 2nd or 3rd, you will usually receive prizes in the form of items that you can use to help you out in the next trivia or down the road in the future. To join, simply be in ChatSpike before the time trivia is scheduled to begin. There is no need to join or reserve a spot since everyone is welcome to play! Dr. Peppy will compose the questions as well as host the contest itself. Items are not allowed in warm-up trivia as it is simply a test of skill. In the event of a tiebreaker, additional questions will be asked to break the tie in order to settle upon a definitive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finisher. There are no ties in warm-up trivia. Good luck! This is only the beginning to a fun-filled night of trivia! Check the third post often for up-to-date information on when the next trivia contest is being hosted. SM41’s Mario Trivia ChallengeWhat was once a little thing I used to host in my spare time has snowballed to become the massive contest that is ShadowMario41’s Mario Trivia Challenge. Overtime, it has undergone multiple changes in format and length, but I believe I’ve finally found an effective system that works well. The trivia will be completely organized by myself, including the questions and hosting. The first 10 questions will always be about random things from the Mario universe, whether it be games, TV shows, media, or whatever. After that, each 10-question interval will be divided into a round, which will focus on a specific theme in the Mario series. Common examples are Mario Platformers, Mario RPG Games, and Nintendo 64 Games, although there will occasionally be some creative rounds to spice up the game. After every round, the current scores will be posted. Items earned via warm-up trivia or otherwise can be used at any time throughout the trivia and can really turn a boring game into a very hectic one (but, of course, it's never boring at #sm41triviahq). For more information on items, check out the 4th and 5th posts of this thread. This may seem complicated and overwhelming, but it really is a fun time. Stop by ChatSpike if your interested and, as with warm-up, you can check the third post for up-to-date information on when the next trivia contest is taking place. How to JoinI have received numerous questions along the lines of "How do I sign up for this contest?" Therefore, I decided to include this brief section to clarify some things. Unlike other major contests, you do not have to register or sign up to participate in these trivia challenges. Just check the third post, which features the "Upcoming Contests and Events" section, and show up when trivia is scheduled to be hosted. It's that simple! When you place or earn coins, your name will automatically be added to the Trivia Archives and/or Player Archive. Since there is no need to sign up, that should encourage even more people to participate. ChatSpike InformationEvery week, trivia will take place not on the board itself but rather in a chat room. You can find the chat room by following the directions below. Java is required to enter chat, so if you do not have Java, you can download it here. - Go to http://www.chatspike.net
- Click "Java Chat" in the upper-right corner of the screen. It should bring you to this page.
- Enter the information below:
- Nickname: *Insert your NSider screen name here*
- Full Name: *Leave as is*
- Channel: #sm41triviahq
Just make sure you type the channel name EXACTLY THE WAY IT IS including the # symbol. Also, please put your NSider 2 name as your nickname, so I don't have to play guessing games to figure out who you are. If you have problems connecting to ChatSpike (i.e. an error message appears), check out the Trouble Center to possibly find the solution to your issue. If you still have a problem, PM me and I'll see what I can do! We can also add your problem, when it is resolved, to the Trouble Center to ensure that it never happens to anyone else, or yourself, again. Remember that I am an "Op" of this room and can kick you out if you act up, so behave while trivia is in progress. Oh yeah, and have fun too! Just to get this out of the way, I may be a registered user of ChatSpike.net and be the founder of my own channel, but I am in no additional way affiliated with ChatSpike. I do not share ownership with the website or anything of the sort, I'm just here to have fun! Besides me, there are also other registered Ops in the chat room to ensure it is moderated well during and outside of trivia. Here are the authoritative ranks various users possess in the chat room. Note that all of the ranks build on each other; there are no exclusive powers at a lower rank unavailable at a higher rank. Registered Founder (~) - Access to all server commands and channel modes Registered Super Ops (&) - Kick protection and access to most server commands Registered Ops (@) - Access to all channel modes. Registered Half-Ops (%) - Can kick, ban and voice users, change certain channel modes and change the topic of a channel, among other things. Registered Voices (+) - Can speak while the chat is muted (+m) You can also enter the chat room any day of the week and I and/or other trivia players will be there to chat or play Wi-Fi with. It is really a fun chat room that you may want to frequent often (as so many users already do).

Laws of the LandWith every trivia contest, there has to be a set of rules to make sure things don't get out of control when trivia is going on. Please note all of the following rules below. Most of them are common sense, but you should still familiarize yourself with them anyway. General Trivia Rules apply to both chat trivia and that hosted on the Mario Board while the other two categories apply to their respective locations. Mario Trivia: General Rules- No spamming/flaming or you will be kicked out! Chatting about the trivia is fun but please try to stay on topic (or at least Mario-related ) and don't insult others to the point where they will get offended (even though I probably will jokingly insult you, don't do it in a mean way).
- Please refrain from swearing or using any vulgar/offensive/obscene language. Everyone should understand this rule anyway; I'm just putting it here for official purposes.
- Please do not use any outside resources to obtain your answers while participating in the trivia (unless I specify that you are allowed to). This includes but is not limited to: Nintendo.com, Google, Wikipedia, GameFAQs, Yahoo, MSN, GameSpot, and IGN. The only outside resource that is acceptable is NSider. You may use material posted on NSider to assist you in the game. However, that goes without saying, don't create threads just to help you answer questions asked.
- Correct spelling is important. In order to receive credit for answering a question correctly, the answer provided must be spelled completely correct and the full answer must be provided. No abbreviations or censors will be accepted. Capitalization doesn't particularly matter but, again, you must spell the answer correctly. However, please don't TyPe LiKe ThIs...
- Remember that if the question is in the plural form, the answer must be plural as well. Likewise for singular.
- If "Donkey Kong" is the answer for one of the questions being asked, you must type out Donkey Kong and not abbreviate it by using "DK." The same goes for Petey Piranha.
- Please view SM41's Mario Trivia: List of Technicalities. There aren't too many of them, but you must avoid them in order to get credit for an answer.
- In the event that the forum is experiencing technical difficulties during the time that trivia is scheduled for, please meet me in ChatSpike and I'll discuss what will be going on there. If the trivia was supposed to be on the Mario Board for said week, it will likely be rescheduled. Just check with me first!
- If the question being asked has multiple answers, you must use a comma (,), a plus sign (+), a semicolon (; ) or the word "and" to seperate your answers. Additionally, your answers must be ordered correctly to match the corresponding parts of the question being asked. This avoids confusion with questions that ask you to name certain people or objects. If the proper order for listing answers isn't specified in the question, then you can just name them all in any order.
- In order to prevent this trivia for going on forever or to prevent it from ending quickly there is a question limit that I've set. All trivia contests will last for at least 30 questions, but no more than 40 questions. This way, it will provide an exciting trivia experience for everyone, even if others place before the 30 questions mark. If someone places 1st before the 30 questions are up, we will continue to play for second until we reach 30 questions, then we'll call it a day. If trivia hits 41 questions (the maximum), the scores after that question is answered will be final.
- To further help out the cause listed in the previous rule, there is a time limit as well. Trivia will last no longer than 3 hours on any given night. At least, with this rule, if something comes up where trivia has to be stalled a bit, it won't go on forever.
- Any and all items can only be purchased before or after trivia, not during it! The only way to purchase items during trivia is with the Cellular Shopper item. Make sure to stock up before or after trivia if you want to use any items against your opponents.
- Remember that you need 10 points before anyone else in order to place 1st. Once you earn 10 points and clinch a position on the scoreboard, items cannot target you any longer, so plan on hitting someone before they reach this mark!
- When trivia is over and the final scores are posted, you cannot use point-increasing items at that time to advance your position on the scoreboard. Use them up before trivia ends and plan accordingly/strategically with your items!
- All rules inscribed in NSider 2's Code of Conduct still apply to this contest.
- HAVE FUN!
Mario Trivia: Warm-Up Trivia-Specific Rules- No items may be used during the course of Warm-Up Trivia - NO EXCEPTIONS! This is purely a test of skill in regards to the topic at hand.
- Remember, even though I am not hosting the contest, Dr. Peppy still has authority over you guys, so you should listen to him as you would me. His word and his decisions are final for warm-up trivia. If you have a problem with his hosting methodology, let him know so he can improve upon it. Please don't complain about those issues to me.
Mario Trivia: ChatSpike-Specific Rules- It is a chat room, so I understand that there is a more casual atmosphere. Chatting a little bit is ok, but please keep spam to a minimum and avoid flaming other
- Anything that violates the forum rules, ChatSpike's Network Rules, ChatSpike's Privacy Policy, or a combination of the three will also be prohibited.
- This chat room is an IRC chat room. Due to that, it can sort of be "tampered" with. I would please ask you to not do anything of the sort to "mess with the system." Remember, I could easily not host trivia in a chat room at all if it is messed up due to the participants. Please be aware of that.
- In order to get a question correct, you must include your entire answer in one submitted message. Please do not let your answer span several messages because, when everyone is posting frantically, it gets very hard to keep track of your answer.
- If you want to use an item, the best way to go about doing that is to send me a private message on ChatSpike. You can do that by double clicking my name on the chatting list on the right-hand side of the screen. You could post it in the chat, but it may get lost in the multiple messages. Do not PM me a request on NSider, because I will most likely not read it.
- There is no limit to the amount of users that may join at any one time. Please do not ask if you can "join" the trivia, since there really isn't a need to. If you do join, please use your NSider name, or something close to it so I can recognize you.
NOTE: The violation of these rules could result in not getting the current question correct, point deductions, bans from future trivia contests, and/or reports sent to the moderators depending on severity. Please understand that these actions must be taken to ensure a prosperous future for this contest. Most of the rules are common sense and they boil down to being respectful and having a good time. However, make sure you are aware of all of the small technicalities so they don't come back to hurt you later.

Item ShopIn this section of the Master Thread, you will be able to exchange prizes that you earn in trivia to receive valuable items or gifts. Prizes are vital to a trivia's functionality; there needs to be something to serve as a goal for people to play in hopes of winning. Here, you will find that there are plenty of valuable things to be earn by playing (plus, it's a fun experience). Check out the details below for exactly how the item shop operates. CurrencyEvery time you participate, play, and do well in one of my trivia contests, you will get one of two forms of currency: gold coins ( ) or silver coins ( ), each of which are further explained below and can be exchanged for prizes. Similarly to tickets at an arcade, a certain number of coins will get you a certain prize and better prizes are valued at more coins, so it might be wise to save up to earn some of the really great things offered here. Coin amounts can be found in the "Player Archive" section of this thread. Gold Coins: Gold coins, only given away in warm-up, standard, and special trivia contests, can be used to buy items and name effects. Items can do a variety of things, all of which influence a trivia contest and give you a slight edge in some way. For example, an item might cause another player to lose a point or might cause you to gain 2 points. Either way, they will give you some sort of an advantage in the trivia. All items will be represented by their corresponding icons and will be displayed next to their owner's username in the "Player Archive" section of this thread. Name effects can jazz up someone's username in the Player Archive section, providing a bold font effect, for example. While they might not serve any practical use, you can show-off with your flashy username if you want. Also, you can buy the ability to have me link to your profile in that section, so that might be a useful purchase to make. Finally, rupees and market items (which will be added in soon) will be available for purchase in the near future. The maximum amount of gold coins a player can have at any time is 999, ninety-nine more than the top prize. Silver Coins: Silver coins are also given away in trivia contests but can also be given away by performing various tasks and favors for the trivia contest, such as designing new signatures and contributing new insightful ideas. These can be used for buying valuable Virtual Console games which normally cost Wii points (real money) to purchase. Needless to say that in order to earn those, you will have to save up, but doing various tasks to help with the up-keeping of the Master Thread can speed up the process. The maximum amount of silver coins a player can have at any time is 999, enough to purchase the top prize. ItemsPurchased With: Gold Coins Items are things in trivia that can be used to give you an edge of some sort, whether it be increasing your own score or subtracting points from another user's score. These can be critical in earning a victory and, although not as game-breaking as before, can heavily impact the game if used correctly. A player can hold a maximum of 3 items at a time (as long as they do not violate any other restrictions mentioned in the chart). Items are divided into 5 major categories: Offensive: As the name suggests, these items will hurt your opponents and provide them with ailments that will make it more difficult for them to achieve victory. Use these if you are an aggressive player who wants to make others' lives miserable. Defensive: To protect yourself from some users in "attack mode," you can purchase these items, which will hopefully shield you from impending threats. It might be a good idea to always have one of these so at least you have some form of defense against an attack. Stealing: For the mischievous players, some items allow you to take things from your opponents, whether they be items or points, and add them to your inventory. A Flashlight will stop thieves cold in their tracks, but they can get by many other things. These are perfect for messing up an opponent's plan. Point-Increasing: These items are for self-help purposes; they boost your score, providing you with obvious trivia advantages. If you are more of a pacifist, these are for you. Miscellaneous: The name says it all. These items vary between gambling with your coins to influencing the trivia in ways other than the score. There isn't really a general description of these that I can give you, but you might find some of these to your liking. After the final question of the contest has been asked (or once someone reaches 10 points, whichever comes first), no more items can be used in the contest. This prevents last-minute things that make it difficult for me, as a host, to keep track of, which creates added confusion for the contest. Therefore, I had to create this rule to maintain order. No excuses and no exceptions. If you want to buy an item, you can post your request in the thread, PM me, contact me in ChatSpike, or reach me by other means. If I had to have a preference, I would say post in the thread, but I really don't mind either way. Just make it clear to me what you want. Once you purchase something, you cannot change your order so choose wisely. You can buy an item by viewing the chart below. There is a total of 41 items available for purchase. ShadowMario41's Mario Trivia Challenge ItemsNOTE #1: I'm always open to suggestions! If you think there should be another prize added here, PM me and I'll gladly consider adding your request (if it is a good one, of course). NOTE #2: Please know that items can only be purchased OUT OF TRIVIA, NOT DURING IT! Purchasing items during trivia makes the game kind of slow-paced, which is the last thing that I want to do. (Have you ever been to an extremely sluggish trivia? It gets really boring really quickly.) If you post a request during trivia, it will be denied. Name EffectsPurchased With: Gold Coins While these may not have the advantages items do, it might be desirable for some to put a little of pizazz into their boring username in the "Player Archive" section by getting some name effects. These are what you what normally expect in terms of font effects and colors but one I would really recommend is getting a link to your NSider2 profile. It will help to advertise yourself and possibly even meet a new user if they recognize you from here. Trust me, I know a lot about advertisement and doing this would be a very wise move. If you want to buy an effect, you can post your request in the thread, PM me, contact me in ChatSpike, or reach me by other means. If I had to have a preference, I would say post in the thread, but I really don't mind either way. Just make it clear to me what you want. Once you purchase something, you cannot change your order so choose wisely. You can buy a name effect by viewing the chart below. There are currently 5 different effects to choose from. ShadowMario41's Mario Trivia Challenge Name EffectsNOTE: All effects with the exception of linking to a profile build on each other, so you can have multiple effects active at once. Hosting Privileges Purchased With: Gold Coins Hosting unofficial trivia only costs 10 coins and will attract a decent-sized audience, but nothing can compare to hosting an official trivia where records will be kept, a high amount of users will attend and you could make your name known as a Mario trivia host. Now, that option is available to you. Obviously, it will be a hefty fee, but if you have the coins, you will be allowed to officially host either warm-up or even a main trivia challenge. In the archive section, it will be noted that it was hosted by you and participants will earn all of the normal prizes that they would earn in any official trivia challenge. Best of all, these prizes don't have to come from your own pocket. The only thing that I want to make clear is that you may NOT purchase this item with the objective to host a poorly-run trivia on purpose. For example, saying that you are hosting a trivia and then not showing up or running out of questions will definitely not be a wise idea. If you violate the promise that you will do everything you can to host a successful and lively trivia, you will be banned from purchasing this item and the maximum amount of gold coins you can have will be reduced to 300, so you can only buy items and name effects. Hopefully I won't have to make a ban list, but I will if I have to. For more information on unofficial hosting, check out the section with the same name in the "Mario Trivia Extras" section of this thread. For more information on how the official contests are played out, look in the first post under the "How to Play" section. So if you would like to host an official trivia, this is your opportunity. If you want to host a trivia using my ChatSpike channel and pre-established rules, you can post your request in the thread, PM me, contact me in ChatSpike, or reach me by other means. If I had to have a preference, I would say post in the thread, but I really don't mind either way. Just make it clear to me what you want. Once you purchase something, you cannot change your order so choose wisely. Once you purchase the privilege to host a trivia, please contact me (or I will contact you) about establishing a date (it must be on either a Friday or Saturday night). ShadowMario41's Mario Trivia Challenge Hosting PrivilegesNOTE: If a date is pre-established for you to host and you find out that you will be unable to make it in advance, let me know so I can change the date, notify everyone and possibly host that week myself. If you just don't show up without notice, I will not be too happy. Rupees & Market ItemsPurchased With: Gold Coins As you can see, the NSider2 market is undergoing massive renovations and is not yet complete. This section will be updated with prizes and rupees to give away (when I obtain them, of course). One thing I do want to mention is that when the market becomes live again, I will be asking for rupee donations like before and I hope to establish something similar to the Blargg Bank if the system allows that. Look for it in a future update! Virtual Console GamesPurchased With: Silver Coins The biggest prizes available for purchase on this thread, Virtual Console games are classic titles available on the Wii Shop Channel. The games are mostly memorable titles available for the NES, SNES, N64, and other non-Nintendo systems (such as the Sega Genesis). They can be bought with Wii Points, a form of currency Nintendo translates real money into so that it can only be used with their services. In case you didn't catch the hint, these are normally bought with real money, but I will allow you to get it with this fake currency, silver coins. The only other thing I will need is your Nintendo Wii address (the 16-digit code assigned to your console) and I will gladly gift a game of your choice to you if you have enough coins. You will have to register me to receive the games, so I will provide my Wii address below. Note that WiiWare titles that are valued at or under 1,000 Wii Points can be purchased upon request. Wii points and silver coins translate into a 1-to-1 ratio, meaning that 1 silver coin is equal to 1 Wii point. The cheapest Virtual Console title available is 500 Wii points, so it will require some saving up to purchase these, but it will be worth it. My Nintendo Wii address is 6599 1919 3032 2567. Be sure to register me if you want to receive any games. If you want to buy a Virtual Console game, you can post your request in the thread, PM me, contact me in ChatSpike, or reach me by other means. If I had to have a preference, I would say post in the thread, but I really don't mind either way. Just make it clear to me what you want. Once you purchase something, you cannot change your order so choose wisely. You can buy a game by viewing the chart below. There are currently 6 different options to choose from. ShadowMario41's Mario Trivia Challenge Virtual Console Games Scoring SystemWith there being two different forms of currency on this thread, it helps to create a bit of variety for users with the prizes so different users could be saving up for different things. Therefore, when you win the amount listed below, you can choose to get it in all gold coins, all silver coins or split down the middle, receiving half of it in gold coins and half in silver coins. You must choose one of these three options. For example, if I get first place and win 50 coins, I can choose to either have 50 gold coins, 50 silver coins, or 25 gold and 25 silver coins. Once you make a choice, it cannot be changed so choose wisely. Note that these amounts are subject to change and there may be special events where users receive double coins or other specific conditions are in place, so be on the lookout for those! 1st Place: 50 Coins 2nd Place: 40 Coins 3rd Place: 30 Coins 4th Place: 24 Coins 5th Place: 18 Coins 6th Place: 12 Coins 7th Place: 6 Coins 8th Place: 4 Coins 9th Place: 2 Coins 10th Place or lower: 1 Coin However, if you get 0 points or less in the trivia contest, you will NOT receive any coins! Signature Add-OnsSeparate from the Item Shop (as the big red text suggests), this is where you will find all of the add-ons you can put in your signature to show your achievements made here or simply support this contest. By doing so, you'll hopefully attract new users to join this contest and new users are always welcome with open arms. Anyway, you'll find the code to use a signature add-on below (replace the braces with brackets). All signature add-ons are offered for free and can be worn if you meet the given criteria. Player StatusAll items purchased from the chart above are represented on this list by their corresponding icons. Icons to the right of the user's name mean that he/she owns the items and can use them at his/her command. For example, suppose this was one of the users on the list (under 1st place finishers of course ) SHADOWMARIO41 (41) (141) In the example above, Shadow Mario's Brush is listed as an item I have purchased from the charts in the Item Shop. All items purchased will be displayed in the same area, regardless of category. The amount of gold coins I own is represented to the right of my username in parentheses: 41. To the right of that is the number 141 in parentheses which represents the number of silver coins that I possess. This format will be standard for all participants. Below is a list of users who have coins, their coin amounts, and any items they have. Users are listed alphabetically under their corresponding place. NOTE: If you have changed your screen name in the transition from NSider to NSider 2, please let me know so I can also change it on the scoreboard. 1st Place FinishersALLABOUTTHEFOOD (42) (0) CYRIS (162) (0) FENRIR KNIGHT (638) (150) HONKY (324) (285) IGIUL283 (167) (153) KIKIYO_QWEEN_OF_DRAGONS (180) (0) KRACKSHOT_CROC (115) (965) LOZMASTER8 (145) (0) NINTENDOMASTERGC (47) (0) PIKMIN-RULES (301) (45) POWERTOMARIO (312) (113) PRINCEOFKOOPAS (693) (0) REXY_ZE_PIRATE (126) (458) SLIMKIRBY64 (208) (695) THEPASTAKING (219) (725) WATER10 (255) (0) YOSHIFAN0987654321 (195) (442) 2nd Place FinishersERICLEB01 (42) (0) GOATY (20) (0) GOLDEN_MARIO (30) (0) MARIO766 (263) (268) MARIOMAN2.0 (169) (0) MEGAFREAK400 (450) (68) MIDGETJR. Please note that although the number of gold and silver coins each user has may not correspond with their standings in trivia, the numbers are correct. With item purchases, special contest, bulletin board jobs and many other aspects factored into these amounts, it is definitely not based on trivia winnings alone. Try to earn as many coins as you can because, although money doesn't equal happiness, it doesn't hurt you either (at least, in this contest).

Pianta Parlor Even though the Pianta Parlor is operational, it is still under construction since more features and information will be added NOTE: The Pasta King is in charge of the entire Pianta Parlor, not I, ShadowMario41. Please send all Pianta Parlor-related concerns – including bets, questions, and problems – to The Pasta King via PM or otherwise. If you do send your quarrels to me, they will be redirected to The Pasta King.IntroductionPreviously known as the Coin Arcade established by Cyris, the Pianta Parlor (now managed by The Pasta King) is a feature of ShadowMario41's Mario Trivia Challenge that allows you to wager and potentially gain (or lose) gold and/or silver coins. You can do this in one of two ways: by betting on and, therefore, predicting various aspects of the trivia or playing a game called Game Guy 2.0 at the conclusion of trivia. Both methods involve a risk of sorts, but they could potentially pay off in big ways if you're lucky. RulesThere are only a few Pianta Parlor rules and most of them are common sense, but I will list them nonetheless. Failure to comply with these rules could result in your gamble being nullified or bans from using the Pianta Parlor's features. - You can only bet gold or silver coins. Items or other prizes may not be gambled with.
- The constant maximum bet on a given category is 50 coins, while the minimum bet is 5 coins.
- You may only bet on the topics listed below. Please do not attempt to bet on anything else because your request will be denied.
- All bets must be submitted to The Pasta King or myself, ShadowMario41, before the trivia contest begins. Bets made during or after the contest will be ignored. Also, please do not give joke bets like "i bet 100 coinz on BL16". It's just a waste of everyone's time.
- Winnings (or loses) from the Pianta Parlor will be updated when the regularly scheduled update for the thread after each trivia contest occurs.
- Once you submit a bet, it cannot be changed, so be sure to bet wisely.
BettingYou can bet on any of the following topics. If you end up getting the selected topic correct, your bet will be multiplied by the amount in parentheses. - The winner of SM41's Warm-Up Trivia - Must be submitted before warm-up begins (x2)
- The winner of SM41’s Mario Trivia Challenge (x2)
- The 2nd place finisher of SM41’s Mario Trivia Challenge (x2)
- The 3rd place finisher of SM41’s Mario Trivia Challenge (x2)
- What the round themes for trivia will be (x2 for each correct)
- The number of voided questions there will be (voids due to Count Bleck excluded) (x3)
More topics may be added or removed from week to week, so be sure to check back often! All bets will be kept private and any wins/losses will be announced at the conclusion of trivia. Game Guy 2.0Remember good ol' Game Guy from Mario Party 3? In case you can't recall, he was a character that would take all of your coins and force you to play a mini-game, where you could multiply your coins by huge amounts or lose everything in a snap. While you won't be able to lose everything you own in this variation, Game Guy returns to deliver a highly entertaining post-trivia gambling competition. You can only participate in this game once per week, with the maximum bet being 20 coins. However, you can quickly turn 20 coins into 100 coins with the right roll of the dice. The Pasta King or myself, ShadowMario41, will be the host of this contest. Players will compete in the Game Guy mini-game Lucky 7. The rules are slightly different than the Mario Party 3 mini-game, but the foundation is the same. You want to roll two numbers that add up to a 7 or less and you want Game Guy to roll two numbers that add up to more than 7 or less than what you rolled if you rolled under a 7. That is a bit confusing, but the game flow will be explained below. First, though, there are a few rules that need to be followed. - The winner will be the first one that can participate in Game Guy 2.0. The 2nd place finisher will be the next one to play, followed by 3rd place and so on. If you do not want to participate, that's fine, but you will not be able to change your mind while Game Guy 2.0 is still going on.
- Users can only participate in Game Guy 2.0 once per SM41's Mario Trivia Challenge (the Don Pianta item will permit you to play two times).
- Remember that all numbers are generated via RNG, so do not take it personally if the numbers do not fall your way.
Here is how the game will play out. So far, the explanation might have been a bit confusing, but this should clarify things. - Player chooses his/her wager. This wager is locked in, meaning the player cannot change his/her mind afterwards.
- Player rolls a die (1-6) and advances that number of spaces.
- Game Guy rolls a die (1-6) and advances that number of spaces.
- Now it's the player's turn again. If the player rolled higher than Game Guy, he/she can choose whether or not to roll again. If not, the player must roll a second die. If the player rolls a second die, he/she will advance that number of spaces. If not, he/she will remain at the original location.
- Now it's Game Guy's turn. If the two rolls by the player still total less than Game Guy's roll, Game Guy will not roll again. If the opposite is true, Game Guy will roll again and advance that many spaces.
- A winner will be decided and prizes will be awarded. Here are all of the possible results (results are listed from best to worst):
1. Player rolls a 7 and Game Guy does not = Player receives 5 times his/her wager 2. Player rolls lower than 7 and Game Guy rolls higher than 7 (known as a self-destruct) = Player receives double his/her wager 3. Player rolls higher than Game Guy's total without rolling a 7 (neither self-destruct) = Player receives double his/her wager 4. Player and Game Guy both roll a 7 = Player receives his/her wager + 5 coins 5. Player rolls the same as Game Guy (neither self-destruct and neither roll a 7) = Player's wager is unaffected 6. Player rolls higher than 7 (self-destructs) and Game Guy rolls lower than 7 = Player loses all of his/her wager 7. Player rolls lower than Game Guy's total (neither self-destruct) = Player loses all of his/her wager 8. Player does not roll a 7 and Game Guy does = Player loses his/her wager - 10 coins
As you can see, this is mostly a game of chance, but this presents a way that players can quickly multiply their wager by two or even by 5! This should be a fun post-trivia game, so I encourage you all to participate! Have fun betting in the Pianta Parlor! Spend your money wisely!

Mario Trivia ExtrasUnofficial HostingBeing the generous person I am ( ), I will allow you to host trivia unofficially stemming from the Master Thread. If you want to host a contest, but you just want to experiment with something or you don't want to make it a big ordeal but you do want to get the word out, this is the perfect opportunity for you. You can post information about your contest on this thread (including date, time, subject, etc.) and I will update it to the "Upcoming Trivia Events" section. There are only a few rules you have to follow if you wish to do this. - You must post information about your contest in this thread. The information should include the name, subject, date, location, time, host and prizes (if applicable).
- Trivia must be Mario-related somehow. Super Smash Bros. or Donkey Kong is acceptable, but no Metroid Prime or Ocarina of Time (even though they are great games, this is Mario trivia).
- Trivia must be hosted in ChatSpike #sm41triviahq OR on NSider 2. Please post the location of your trivia in your info point.
- Trivia must not interfere with any events already scheduled.
- You must provide your own prizes (if any) for the contest. No official prizes will be awarded. You may, however, give away official prizes for this trivia that are in your possession.
You may also choose to use my set of rules or make up your own variations. It is your trivia after all. Hosts will be awarded half-op when it comes time for their scheduled event. Trust me, this is a wonderful opportunity to experiment some ideas and perhaps try hosting for the first time. Take advantage of this offer! Trouble CenterHosting and managing a trivia contest of this magnitude is a lot of work and it is nearly impossible to do it alone. Therefore, things that I need done will be posted here and silver coins will be given out to those who complete the tasks. In no means are these tasks mandatory; they are just little assignments that I am offering a reward for completing. If you decide to do one of these tasks, it is highly appreciated. Current Jobs: - Create a new general add-on for SM41's Mario Trivia Challenge (25 silver coins)
- Create another new general add-on for SM41's Mario Trivia Challenge (25 silver coins)
- Create a new Pianta Parlor add-on for SM41's Mario Trivia Challenge (20 silver coins)
- Create a signature add-on for Zentendo Trivia - use Zentendo's banner and such as a background (35 silver coins)
Also look at the List of Completed Troubles to see which jobs are already done. Staff MembersRunning a contest of this magnitude is a lot of work and I definitely cannot do it all by myself. Therefore, I have decided to give credit to those who have "jobs" here that I have appointed to them. Thanks for all of your help! Official Warm-Up Host: Dr. Peppy Pianta Parlor Manager: The Pasta King Assistant Chat Moderators: Medic! & SlimKirby64 Back-Up Score Keeper: MegaFreak400 Graphic Artist: Cyris Record Keeper: PowerToMario "Reminderer": YoshiFan0987654321 PM ListThe PM List used to be a feature where, if you signed up for it, you would receive a PM with details of the latest trivia updates. Because mass PMing is not enabled on NSider 2, I can not continue the PM List. However, updates will still be posted in the thread's topic and, if you're in ChatSpike at the time of an update, I'll notify you there. Make sure to check back frequently! Quote of the WeekAfter NSider2 established new signature restrictions, I could not display the Mario trivia quote of the week in my signature. So I decided to make a fresh archive post to display all of the quotes from now on. Check it out if you have a chance as it is a long-running trivia tradition. Quote of the WeekEnclosed Instruction BookletIf you're having trouble accessing ChatSpike, view the Enclosed Instruction Booklet and you will hopefully find the solution to your problem. All jokes aside, though, it is a highly useful tool for those with technical difficulties. If there is an error code that shows up that is not listed in there, PM me and we'll work it out. Once we do so, I will add the solution to the Enclosed Instruction Booklet so it doesn't happen again. Hall of RecordsThis is something I decided to create to show just how grand the history of this contest is and to recognize the users that have played their hearts out to try to get the top spot week after week. If you are interested in viewing previous trivia records, visit the Hall of Records. Maybe seeing this list will inspire you to work harder towards earning a victory! SkypeWhile trivia is going on during ChatSpike (and during random times), many users are also communicating on a voice chat program called Skype. This software allows your computer to "call" other computers with Skype installed (known as Skype-to-Skype) and outside phone lines like cell or home phones (for a fee). However, calling other computers, which is the function it is used for during trivia, is one-hundred percent free. You need a working microphone and headphones or a headset to be able to use this program. If you are interested in downloading it, you can click on one of the links below. Please note that I am in no way affiliated with Skype; I just use it for fun. Skype for WindowsSkype for MacSkype for LinuxFan CreationsBelieve it or not, many users have created things in various forms of media based on this trivia contest. These range from videos to comic strips and even databases. Many of them are funny and enjoyable to view, so I highly recommend that you check them out if you have the time. ShadowMario41's Trivia Players Chart (chart by Cyris) ShadowMario41's Trivia: The Faces of Trivia (video by SlimKirby64) ShadowMario41's Trivia Players (video by PowerToMario) ShadowMario41's Trivia Headquarters (video by Igiul283) ShadowMario41's Trivia Critiques (video series by PowerToMario) Come to ShadowMario41's Mario Trivia Challenge (video by ThePastaKing) FrapprLooking at the title of this subsection, you probably have no idea what this is. Frappr is a beta program online that allows you to create a map where various users can add themselves in the form of markers that appear on the map. It definitely isn't mandatory for you or anyone to add themselves to this map (since you will reveal your location) but it is just cool for me to see how far exactly my trivia has spread. Additionally, you don't have to post your exact location, but rather a major city nearby if you feel more comfortable (i.e. if you live on the outskirts of Boston, just putting Boston as your location would be fine). Add yourself to the map if you would like! http://www.frappr.com/sm41mariotriviaTrivia AffiliatesLooking for even more trivia fun? Check out some of these threads listed below! If you would like your trivia contest linked here, PM me or post it here and I'll add you if I really like your trivia contest. I'm pretty lenient with this, so as long as you have a well-organized trivia thread, you can get your name here . Mario Trivia and Nintendo Trivia in general can be affiliated with this thread.
