This guide is designed to help you collect all of the enemy trophies in the Subspace Emissary, including bosses. I have played through every level of the SSE, and listed every enemy that appears in each stage (except for the Great Maze). Using that list, I will do the opposite: list every stage where each enemy appears. Keep in mind that this guide assumes that you are using the Gamecube controller.

Before I begin, here are a few general tips:

#1: Play on "Easy" difficulty

Although Trophy Stand drops occur more often on higher difficulty settings, if all of your characters die, you lose all trophies that you have collected on that level. Therefore, it is much safer to play on “Easy”, and compensate for the lower trophy stand drops with stickers (more on those later). If you want to challenge yourself, go right ahead and set the difficulty to "Intense". This guide, however, will assume that you are playing on "Easy". Also, complete the game first. This will save you a LOT of headaches.

#2: Clear the area

If you're trying to capture a specific enemy, make sure that you kill every other enemy in the area. Not only will there be less enemies to distract you, but one of the enemies you kill might drop an extra Trophy Stand in case you accidentally throw your first one off a cliff. In order to do this, however, you must...

#3: Use Special Moves

Do NOT, under any circumstances, touch the "A" button while carrying a Trophy Stand, until you've completed tip 2. Therefore, you must use a character who can take out a group of enemies using only special moves. Ike, Charizard, Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, Ness, and Lucas are all solid choices, but in general, use a character whose specials you're familiar with. In other words, your main.

Additionally, here's a useful tip from OniLink:

"If you really need to use your A attacks but you're holding a trophy stand, just hop and press Z(or whatever your grab button is) and you will gently drop the stand on the floor, letting you weaken your enemy, pick it back up, and throw it!"

#4: Use the Big Boss sticker

Big Boss (MGS: The Twin Snakes) increases your Trophy Stand drops by 30, which is higher than any other sticker in the game. If you have a limited supply of Big Boss stickers, other good options are Nabaaru (Fire Emblem: Monsho no Nazo), Cornimer (Animal Crossing: WW), Rotohex (Digiluxe), and the President (Pikmin 2).

Now, onto the guide itself.

--Enemies--

Primid

These guys are very simple to get. I've caught a few them just by chucking a Trophy Stand at them while they were at full health.

Appears on the following stages:
*Midair Stadium
*Skyworld
*Sea of Clouds
*The Plain
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Forest
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Wilds (West)
*The Wilds (East)
*The Research Facility (East)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*The Glacial Peak
*The Canyon
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*Battleship Halberd Exterior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Entrance to Subspace
*Subspace (East)

Boom Primid

Basically the same as the Primid. Just be careful that it doesn't use its boomerang to block your Trophy Stand.

Appears on the following stages:
*Midair Stadium
*Skyworld
*Sea of Clouds
*The Plain
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Forest
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Wilds (West)
*The Swamp
*The Glacial Peak
*The Canyon
*Entrance to Subspace

Spaak

These guys are a little hard to hit due to their ability to fly, but shouldn't be too much trouble if you stand right under them. The best time to throw the Trophy Stand is probably right after they launch their little spark attack.

Appears on the following stages:
*Midair Stadium
*Skyworld
*Sea of Clouds
*The Plain
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Lake Shore
*The Wilds (East)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*The Glacial Peak
*Entrance to Subspace
*Subspace (East)

Sword Primid

Like the Boom Primid, the Sword Primid might use its weapon to deflect a thrown Trophy Stand. However, since they can't use their sword as a projectile, they are comparatively easy to nab.

Appears on the following stages:
*Midair Stadium
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Forest
*The Wilds (East)
*The Research Facility (East)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*The Glacial Peak
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Subspace (East)

Cymul

These guys are a little tricky. You'll need to weaken them a little bit before you can throw your Trophy Stand at them, and even then, they have a tendency to hover over bottomless pits, where you can't grab the trophy. So, look for them in areas where there's plenty of solid ground. One last thing: they reflect projectiles. So, don't think you can just use Fox's blaster until they're almost dead.

Appears on the following stages:
*Skyworld
*The Research Facility (East)
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)

Greap

Due to their size, Greaps also require a bit of pummeling before you can capture them. Although the head is their weakpoint, it doesn't matter what part of their body is hit by the Trophy Stand.

Appears on the following stages:
*Skyworld
*Sea of Clouds
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Lake Shore
*The Wilds (East)
*Battleship Halberd Exterior
*Entrance to Subspace

Glunder

Glunders will move around on walls, attacking if you get too close. Oddly enough, if you send them flying, but don't kill them, they will stick to whatever wall they land on and continue on their way.

Appears on the following stages:
*Skyworld
*Sea of Clouds
*The Plain
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Research Facility (West)
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)

Roturret

The best way to weaken a Roturret is to have Ivysaur stand directly beneath it and use Bullet Seed a few times. Like the Cymul, it tends to hover over bottomless pits, so keep that in mind.

Appears on the following stages:
*Skyworld
*The Research Facility (West)
*The Ruins
*The Research Facility (East)
*The Canyon
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)
*Subspace (East)

Poppant

The hardest part about capturing a Poppant is that it runs away from you. Sometimes, it will even run off of cliffs. So, the most efficient way to get one is probably to just throw a Trophy Stand at it before it sees you.

Appears on the following stages:
*Sea of Clouds
*The Plain
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Swamp
*The Glacial Peak
*Battleship Halberd Exterior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Subspace (West)

Feyesh

Just throw a Trophy Stand at it. It's not that hard...

Appears on the following stages:
*Sea of Clouds
*The Plain
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Forest
*The Lake Shore
*The Wilds (East)
*The Swamp
*The Canyon
*Battleship Halberd Exterior
*Subspace (West)
*Subspace (East)

Towtow

Attack from a distance to ruffle it up, then throw your Trophy Stand when it comes charging at you. Note that it will wake up when you use a "loud" move, and not necessarily when you attack it.

Appears on the following stages:
*Sea of Clouds
*The Lake
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Ruins
*The Wilds (West)
*The Glacial Peak
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*Subspace (West)

Mite

Due to their small size, a thrown Trophy Stand will often fly right over a Mite's head. Therefore, it might be easier to jump in the air and throw the Trophy Stand down. They're very fragile critters, but they usually come in large packs, so don't worry if you accidentally kill a few of them.

Appears on the following stages:
*Sea of Clouds
*The Lake
*The Forest
*The Lake Shore
*The Ruins
*The Wilds (West)
*The Wilds (East)
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*Battleship Halberd Exterior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Subspace (West)

Goomba

Goombas retain their weakness to blunt trauma to the head from the Mario series. Due to this, you should avoid jumping on them, as this will kill them instantly. A well-thrown Trophy Stand should be able to instantly capture them without too much trouble.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Jungle
*The Lake
*The Cave
*The Swamp

Green Koopa/Paratroopa

The Koopa family is an odd bunch. Koopas can easily be caught with Trophy Stands without any pummeling at all, but Paratroopas will lose their wings if you attack them, at which point the game will think that you're capturing a regular Koopa, not a Paratroopa. So, you need to throw your Trophy Stand up in the air in order to catch a Paratroopa. One last thing: Koopas will retreat into their shells when you attack them, but will reemerge a little bit later. However, sometimes they will emerge from their shells even after you've already depleted their life bar. Very strange.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Jungle
*The Lake
*The Cave
*The Swamp

Red Koopa/Paratroopa

Pretty much the same as the green ones, except that there are no Red Koopas anywhere in the game (only Paratroopas). So, the only way to get the Red Koopa trophy is to knock the wings off of a Paratroopa.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Jungle
*The Lake
*The Cave
*The Swamp

Hammer Bro.

Not too different from the Assist Trophy. May require some minor pummeling, but not too hard to catch. Mind the hammers.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Jungle
*The Lake
*The Cave
*The Swamp

Bullet Bill

Because they never stay still, Bullet Bills are the most difficult Mario enemy to capture. You have to throw the Trophy Stand at them at a precise moment, but some of them have wild flight patterns, so this is easier said than done. Oddly, Marth is able to "deflect" them by using his side-taunt.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Jungle
*The Lake
*The Lake Shore
*The Cave
*The Swamp

Giant Goomba

Possibly easier to capture than the regular-sized Goombas. Jump on their head twice (a third time will kill them), then throw the Trophy Stand at them.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Jungle
*The Lake
*The Cave
*The Swamp

Borboras

Most of the time, they'll just blow wind that slows you down. Usually little more than an annoyance, but they can be deadly if they're positioned on a cliff. From what I can tell, the wind that they blow isn't powerful enough to slow down a Trophy Stand.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Plain
*The Lake
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Ruins
*The Wilds (East)
*The Swamp
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)
*Entrance to Subspace

Ticken

Charizard's Rock Smash should weaken them enough for capture.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Plain
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Forest
*The Lake Shore
*The Wilds (East)
*The Glacial Peak
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Subspace (East)

Fire Primid

Because this Primid's projectile attack is too short-ranged to block a Trophy Stand, it's not that much harder to capture than a regular Primid.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Plain
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Forest
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Ruins
*The Canyon
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Entrance to Subspace
*Subspace (East)

Auroros

Wait for it to dive-bomb you, then quickly sidestep out of the way. If you successfully dodge it, it will get its beak stuck in the ground, making it a sitting duck for you to throw your Trophy Stand at.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Lake
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Forest
*The Wilds (West)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Subspace (East)

Bucculus

Too annoying for words. While the giant lips sticking out of the ground should be a dead giveaway, you'll mostly encounter these pests in narrow corridors where there's no room to jump over them. The easiest way to get the trophy is probably to play on Co-op and use your friend as bait while you throw the Trophy Stand. Interestingly, on some of the Subspace levels, where the ground is transparent, you can see the Bucculus's entire body buried underground, in addition to the giant lips on the surface.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Lake
*The Forest
*The Lake Shore
*The Cave
*The Wilds (East)
*Subspace (East)

Buckot

Jump, then throw the Trophy Stand in midair. Your only other option is to stand underneath it and throw it straight up, hoping that it doesn't start pouring hot... stuff... on your head.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Research Facility (West)
*The Wilds (West)
*The Research Facility (East)
*Battleship Halberd Exterior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)

Floow

Easier to capture than you may think. Although Floows are large, and can regenerate their health, they have very frail bodies, so you can throw a Trophy Stand at them whenever you're ready, and it'll STILL capture them.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Ruins
*The Swamp
*The Glacial Peak
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Entrance to Subspace

Bytan

Will asexually reproduce itself if left alone. May require a bit of pummeling. You'll see a few giant versions of them in the "futuristic" stages, but they don't count as a separate trophy.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Ruined Zoo
*The Research Facility (West)
*The Ruins
*The Wilds (West)
*The Wilds (East)
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Subspace (West)
*Subspace (East)

Armight

Armights will appear out of the background to harass you, accompanied by their distinctive Santa Clause-like laugh. An aerial attack from any character should be more than enough to weaken them, but avoid using your Up-special move, as this will most likely kill them.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Ruins
*The Wilds (East)
*The Canyon
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Subspace (East)

Roader

It's ridiculously fun to kill these guys by using Counter with Marth, Ike, or Lucario. They're weak enough to be captured without any pummeling at all.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Wilds (West)
*The Wilds (East)
*The Research Facility (East)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*Subspace (West)

Scope Primid

Remember what I said about the other Primids using their weapons to deflect your Trophy Stands? Well, this guy is the best at it. So, your best option is to close in on him and throw your Trophy Stand at close range.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Wilds (West)
*The Wilds (East)
*The Research Facility (East)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*Battleship Halberd Exterior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Subspace (East)

Autolance

Pummel it a little bit to make its helmet fall off. Although the exposed light bulb is its main weak point, you'll usually do enough damage to capture it just by knocking the helmet off.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Ruins
*The Research Facility (East)
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South):
*Subspace (East)

Nagagog

When you first encounter this fellow, he'll be small and blue. As you start to attack him, however, he'll make a strange noise that sounds vaguely similar to a bike horn (or a clown nose), and grow bigger, changing his color to yellow. Pummel him some more, and he'll make the strange noise again, only slightly lower-pitched, and grow to his maximum size, changing his color to red. By this time, a few more hits should be enough to weaken him to the point of capture. Just be aware that he's invincible while he's making his bike horn noise.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Battlefield Fortress
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Wilds (East)
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)

Puppit

Aside from their tendency to ambush you by dropping in from above, the Puppit is just as easy to capture as the Feyesh.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Forest
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Wilds (East)
*The Swamp
*The Canyon
*Battleship Halberd Exterior
*Subspace (West)

Trowlon

Trowlons will attempt to fly underneath you and lift you off the screen. However, this also makes them very easy to capture. Just grab a Trophy Stand, wait for them to lift you up, and throw the Trophy Stand straight down.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Forest
*The Wilds (West)
*The Wilds (East)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*Subspace (West)

Shellpod

This creature has two different trophies: one with the armor, and one without. Both require some pummeling. The one without the armor is pretty simple: just pummel it like you normally would until the armor breaks off, then throw the Trophy Stand at it. The one with the armor, however, is considerably trickier, as you must do enough damage to capture it, but not too much damage, or else the armor will break off. Ike's Aether should do enough damage to put its armor on the verge of breaking, at which point you can throw the Trophy Stand to get the armored trophy.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Forest
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Cave
*The Wilds (East)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*The Glacial Peak
*Subspace (East)

The ROB Squad

Although there are technically three different ROB enemies, they all appear on the same stages. They also have the same amount of health, which is small enough to be captured by a Trophy Stand. The Sentries (with the red arms) are the most common, and will try to shoot you with their lasers while clumsily scooting around. The Blasters (with the purple arms) are faster, firing their lasers very rapidly while hovering in the air. The Launchers (with the military camouflage paint job) are the most dangerous, firing explosive seeking missiles, but they remain stationary, completely vulnerable to thrown Trophy Stands.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Research Facility (West)
*The Research Facility (East)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)

Metal Primid

The most dangerous member of the Primid family. Like Cymuls, Metal Primids will reflect any projectiles that you throw at them, and won't flinch when hit. Your best bet is pepper them with Meta Knight's neutral A attack, until they're weak enough to be captured.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Research Facility (West)
*The Ruins
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*The Glacial Peak
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Entrance to Subspace

Bombed

Bombeds are weak enough to be caught instantly, but be aware that after they throw their head at you, they will start to sprint in the opposite direction, sometimes running right off the edge of a cliff.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Lake Shore
*The Wilds (West)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)
*Subspace (West)
*Subspace (East)

Shaydas

Like the Greap, the Shaydas is a large enemy with a specific weak point that must be pummeled before you can capture it (in this case, a red sphere in the center of its chest). Once it's health is down, it doesn't matter which part of its body is hit by the Trophy Stand.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Lake Shore
*The Ruins
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*The Glacial Peak
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)

Gamyga

There's no trophy for the Gamyga Base, so your goal here is to throw a Trophy Stand at the head. Fox is probably the easiest character to do this with. Stand right beside the base and fire your blaster until you've destroyed all the bases, then continue firing until the head is weak enough to be captured. It may try to fire laser beams at you, which can easily be reflected, but I'd advise against it, as you might accidentally kill the head.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Wilds (West)
*Outside the Ancient Ruins
*Subspace (East)

Glire

Basically the same strategy as the Glunder.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Path to the Ruins
*The Cave
*The Ruins
*The Canyon
*Battleship Halberd Interior
*Subspace (East)

Armank

The most powerful non-boss enemy in the game. Pummel it a little, and soon it will extend its long neck. Attack the neck until it explodes, and the Armank will pause for a moment to reveal its weak point: a green face-like organ inside the machine. After a few hits, the face will retreat, and the neck will extend again. Repeat this process until you've got its health down, then throw the trophy stand at whatever body part is the most convenient.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Wilds (West)
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)
*Entrance to Subspace

Big Primid

Basically, a Nagagog minus the first two phases. Just pummel it until it's weak enough to be captured.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Wilds (West)
*The Research Facility (East)
*The Canyon
*The Subspace Bomb Factory (North)
*Entrance to Subspace
*Subspace (West)

Glice

One of the most annoying enemies in the game. Not only will it freeze you for several seconds, but sometimes it'll freeze you over a bottomless pit, which can be deadly. Aside from this, however, it really isn't that different from the Glunder or Glire.

Appears on the following stages:
*The Research Facility (East)
*The Glacial Peak
*Subspace (West)

--Bosses--

Petey Piranha

At first, Petey may seem impossible to capture because of his two cages. However, this actually makes him very simple. Just pummel one of the cages (ignore the other), then throw the Trophy Stand to deal the final blow.

Location: Midair Stadium

Rayquaza

Rayquaza shows up at the beginning of the stage. Therefore, the key to this battle is getting the trophy with a character that you're comfortable completing the rest of the stage with. I don't know if you lose your trophies if you select "Return to Map" from the pause screen, but I'd advise against it.

Location: The Lake

Porky

Before you face Porky, you must first make your way past the Porky Statue part of the stage. Afterward, you still need to make your way through the rest of the level. You may have taken some damage by the time you reach Porky himself, so I'd suggest selecting your characters in an order that anticipates that Porky will kill your first character near the start of the battle.

Location: The Ruined Zoo

Galleom

This rejected Megaman villain will attack you at the end of your first playthrough of the Wilds, but this is a scripted battle, that will never take place again (unless you start a new game). Select Pokemon Trainer and have Charizard use Rock Smash 2-3 times. Afterwards, just keep dodging his attacks until a Trophy Stand appears.

Location: The Wilds (West) (first appearance only), The Ruined Hall (all subsequent battles)

Ridley

BAAAAAAAW HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLAYABLE! ;_; Anyway, because Ridley doesn't appear until the end of the stage, you need to be extra careful that you don't kill him. If necessary, commit suicide at the start of the match, then select "Get Up", so you can fight him with the support of a fully-powered team. Of course, this means that you shouldn't bother picking up any trophies or stickers that you see in the stage...

Location: The Research Facility (East)

Duon

The key to this battle is persistence. The entire stage consists only of this battle, so if you screw up, you can always go right back and try again.

Location: Battleship Halberd Bridge

Meta Ridley

Meta Ridley is the hardest boss trophy to get, even harder than Tabuu. Not only does he appear at the end of the stage, but at the end of the longest and most annoying stage in the game. In addition to this, the entire fight takes place on the Falcon Flyer, which means that even if you manage to land the Trophy Stand on him, the trophy will most likely fall into the abyss unless you chase after it with a fast-falling character. And, as one final kick in the balls, you have two minutes to finish this battle, or else you die. That being said, don't even THINK about attempting this fight without the Big Boss sticker. Secondly, once his health is down, try to throw the Trophy Stand as he swoops over you, so that the trophy might land on the Falcon Flyer. If the timer goes below ten seconds, and it doesn't look like a trophy stand is going to fall, just let the timer run out so you can try again. Finally, if you see ANY item other than a Trophy Stand, throw it off the edge IMMEDIATELY. This goes double for explosive items like Bob-Ombs and Blast Boxes. I was FINALLY able to get this trophy (during co-op with a friend) by using Fox, Pit, Pokemon Trainer, and ROB.

Location: The Subspace Bomb Factory (South)

Tabuu

Tabuu is considerably easier to capture then you might expect, mainly because you have six characters instead of four. However, he is still pretty hard. First of all, he WILL kill at least two of your characters. It's pretty much unavoidable. So, you must use those two characters to get his health down, and the remaining four to stall for time until a Trophy Stand appears. In other words, your first two characters should be your main and secondary, while your last four should either be heavyweights (like Ganondorf or King Dedede), or speedsters (like Sonic or Captain Falcon).

Location: The Great Maze

Wow, how long did it take to write all of this?

On topic, this will definitely help when I go for what I have left, especially the levels part. I've been hunting for certain enemies for a while!

About three weeks. 16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Anyway, I have the locations of the bosses nailed down. It's the strategies that I'm having trouble with.

one thing I feel I should ask- are you sure about losing all lives = lose all trophies gotten?

from what I remember you keep trophies and only lose some stickers you picked up, I think if you choose "get up" you will keep your trophies if you complete the map, you only lose them if you hit "back to map"
