Welcome to the Nintendo NSider2 Forums! NSider2 was created shortly after the original NSider Forums were closed on Sept. 17th, 2007, and has attempted to keep alive the sense of community that was held back then. Whether you're a forum veteran that's finally managed to find the place, or a new user altogether, the staff hopes your forum experience is a good one, and that you reconnect with your old friends and hopefully make new ones in the process.

A few things you should know:

1. Code of Conduct. The Conduct is essentially a list of rules all forum members are expected to follow upon registering and throughout their use of NSider2. These rules are enforced by volunteer users, the Local Knights (who are assigned to moderate a specific section of the forum) and the Knights of Hyrule. Please direct any and all questions you have to them, as well as the Moderators and Administrators.

Be advised, however, that a moderator reserves the right to lock, delete, edit, or otherwise change/remove any content they deem has no place in the community. If you disagree with their decision, PM them directly or PM an Administrator.

2. The NSider2 Rank Thread. As the thread title suggests, you'll find a full list of all forum ranks in this thread, along with what powers are earned at each rank. Also included are staff ranks (both with and without moderation powers), special ranks (which are separated into those ranks unique to your account, such as for being suspended, or not confirming your e-mail address, and those you can earn from contests and through other methods), and a list of all retired ranks since this forum began. Each rank also has a listing of its Rupee wage, in other words, how many Rupees you earn at that rank on a daily basis. All special ranks receive a Rupee wage of 15 Rupees per day.

3. The NSider2 Forums FAQ. This is a comprehensive FAQ covering just about every possible question you're likely to have over the course of your visit, and it's recommended you read through it. Should a question you have remain unanswered after reading through the FAQ, post a thread on the Forum Help board or PM a staff member (a list of all staff members is included in the 2nd-to-last post of the FAQ).

4. Postcount restorations. Yes, you're able to continue posting at the same rank you were on NSider (even with the same number of posts). To be able to do this, go to a site like google.com, live.com, or a web-archive site and attempt to find a cached page of your postcount and rank posted on NSider only (in other words, no alt-forums of the original). Screenshot the cached image and send it to either Cire, LF, or PXD in a PM. Please be patient in waiting for your posts to be restored after contacting one of them. If you can't find any proof of your postcount, don't make a thread asking. If you can't find it, there's a fair chance few other people can.

Due to recent mishaps, if you were of the Pianta rank or above, you MUST provide a link to the source of your proof. If you took the image of your profile when we were still able to see the forums, please say so in the PM you send Cire/LF/PXD for further assistance.

5. "Serious" topics. As a special note, serious topics (such as those relating to religion, politics, ect.) can be discussed on the general disccusion board (Power On), as long as any related topics don't appear too often. Aside from that, they may only be discussed on one board only. To gain access to this board, you'll need to be recommended by one who already has access, or be recommended by a mod.

6. Consequences for Rule-Breaking. Every member has their own warn system, which starts at 0%, and increases in increments of 10 (which also means you can be warned a max amount of 10 times for each time you break the rules). Along with increasing your warn level, a moderator will also give you either a temporary posting suspension (which will still allow you to use PMs), an account suspension (preventing you from viewing the forum entirely), placing all of your new messages as invisible until a mod approves them individually, or giving you an IP-ban. You'll only receive a warn for breaking the rules in excessive amounts (excluding porn links, videos, and images, and flaming a staff member, the last of which is on a case-by-case basis). If you have an issue with your suspension, contact the moderator that suspended you if you're able to check why you were warned (to do so, click the number on your warn level). Take note that when you're suspended, the moderator typically sends you a PM telling you why (though as mentioned earlier, you can check the reason yourself if you're capable of doing so), or if you receive an account suspension, the reason for receiving it is sent to the e-mail address you signed up with.

Most suspensions shouldn't last longer than 10 days, although it's not entirely guarantted it won't happen either. Also remember that you're capable of being permanently banned before receiving 10 warnings - the reasons as to why you were warned are more important than the amount of warns you receive.

Finally, all moderators have the ability to prevent you from either posting in a topic and still being able to view it, or preventing you from viewing and posting in a topic altogether (in other words, a topic ban). Topic bans are often given to posters in large, general discussion threads, and are also used in RP threads, The Pool (NSider2's official chat thread on Power On), clan threads, contests, and anything else related. You'll both be notified of when you receive a topic ban, and likely receive an increase in your warn level as well. Topic bans aren't timed to end in, for example, 10 hours after receiving one. Instead, the moderator will either inform you when you can expect the topic ban to be lifted, or determine fairly when to remove the topic ban, even after your warn suspension ends.

7. NSider2's IRC channel. NSider2 is fortunate enough to have its own chat system, which can be accessed by clicking on the 'Chat' tab below the banner at the top of every page, or by accessing IRC through various programs and typing "/join #NS2". The channel is moderated by the same team of staff members that moderate the forums (though there's slight variations on each level), and the same rules apply as they do to the rest of the forums (note that your conduct in other channels won't result in any suspension here). For information on IRC, view the "IRC for Dummies" guide in the Forum Help board, and should you require help with using IRC, type "/msg ChanServ help" in any channel, or by typing "/join #chatspike" and asking one of the staff members there.

8. 'Grave-Digging' Threads. Something to keep in mind is the situation of bumping old threads. If you have something of value to add to the conversation that'll also create further responses, you're welcome to reply to it (though it's asked you don't do this on a regular basis, and that threads made from 2007 remain untouched unless they're floated). This applies to all boards.

9. Posting HTML. Because of the known risks HTML has with providing users the ability to hack a forum, HTML is only allowed to be posted by Moderators and above. All other users are forced to make use of BBCode (which works similar to HTML, but rather than using 'greater/less than' signs, you use brackets). If you do attempt to post HTML, it'll only appear as text.

10. Plagiarism. Please don't copy someone else's work and repost it as your own, whether it's a sig, a fanfic, or anything else. If you need to use the content of someone else's creation, ask that person before using it, and respect their wishes if they refuse to grant you permission. If you copy from somewhere else and can't contact the owner, give them credit somewhere in the post. Those that repost content without the original owner's permission will receive a warning.

If there's anything else you have questions on, please post them on the Forum Help board, visit NSider2's IRC channel and ask an Operator, or make sure you're a Cappy and PM a staff member.

Thanks, and have fun!
