Full Version: I have stumbled across something VERY serious!

I am just going to copy and paste the same thing I have over at smashboards.

------------

Oh man, where to start.

Ok, look. I made a level a little while ago, and I was doing some testing on it with me using Toon Link against a level 9 Kirby. I killed the Kirby with perfect stock (I used two stock so the match would not drag on) and I decided to record the match so it would save as a replay. I always do this so in case I decide to alter it greatly, I can have the old layout saved. Anywho, I began to watch the replay.

Then, something...STRANGE happened. The match started off ok, with me scoring 17% damage on Kirby and Kirby scoring 8% damage on my Toon Link. Then... Toon Link began to act strangely, and he flew off the level with a down stab and killed himself. The match hardly even started. Now, this caused me to sit up and watch, because I KNEW for a FACT I did not die when I fought him. Anyways, the match continued on with Toon Link acting weird and Kirby whooping him, then he killed ME with perfect stock.

So I watched the replay again. The second time yielded the real match that I recorded, with me finishing with perfect stock and killing Kirby. So I watched the replay again, and the fake match came back on. Then I watched it again, and the real match came back on.

...Needless to say, I went into the kitchen to get some water, because I thought I was losing my mind. Maybe I was hallucinating? I came back and watched it again and again, over and over, and the same thing kept HAPPENING. I got scared, strange as it may sound, because it was just freaky.

Before anyone asks, yes, I recorded the phenomenon. The quality is crappy, but your sight is not hindered in any way to force you to not be able to see. Also, the video has a small amount of swearing. If you are offended by it, don't watch it.

I am not yanking anyone's leg, or pulling any pranks. I am dead serious, and freaked out by this ordeal. I am thinking about even putting up the exact same level for upload on the stage browser so other people can test this strange occurrence. I want EVERYONE to try this on this one level, just so I can see what the problem is. Maybe it is just a glitch? Maybe it is the level? Something internal? One too many replays saved? Whatever it is, it's weird, and it NEEDS to be tested.

At the very least, to put to ease the mind of one of your own, because guys, that kind of thing is not cool at all.

I want everyone to watch this video from the first second to the last, and to come back here and give me your thoughts and theories. My own theory is that my disc is haunted and I need to take it to a priest, or maybe that the replay file is corrupted, and the fake video is a gathering of data from the real one to create something seemingly similar, but with a completely different outcome/results.

...who cares?
Ninja Boss
That is very strange...Very...
Sky Demon
Cut it over with a silver sickle.

Srsly.

Maybe your wii is tired and getting confused?? That is pretty weird, but it may just be data from a temporary file or something screwing it up.
Parakeet.
Simple answer: God hates Southerners.

But really, I think you're just pulling our legs here. Some crafty editing could've been employed. 16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

...Guess I better go tell the "suicide for christ!" organization. XD
xoftheuniverse
thats new... hmm well if the game records button commands, hence why someone said in another thread thats why you cant transfer the files to a computer for replays... I'd guess that the computer may have input two commands at once hence the hammer and kick difference and the rest was out of sync because of it... but this is just a theory.
Aeronforth
That's some weird stuff.
SlickSP502
do you think you could send this to someone to test if the phenomenon happens if someone else plays the replay?

Good idea. If it's a problem on someone else's Wii, then it's the Replay data. If it's only a problem on your Wii, it could either be your CD, or a slight glitch in your save file.

Want to know aht I find even WEIRDER?

That you didn't post the movie to the REAL vid so that we could have some REAL proof. 16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif It's fine to have the "fake" one up. but seeing as those replays change over and over again in that one vid, I'd like yo to record the real one. Until you have it up I don't believe you. 16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
xMetalGear22x
That was pretty creepy!!
Super_Luigi_128
Scary. Also, I noticed at the beginning of the matches the damages were reversed. Weird.
Dr. Jones
In my opinion, it's most likely a weird glitch. I'm almost positive the replays aren't the actual match, but something the Wii makes from that match. Someone already said that something could have glitched the button commands.
yoshiblue2
did you post this on the smashboards too?
Anarchyzoo41
This is what I think happened. Somehow when you first watched the replay, it was a fake right? Well, somehow a glitch could have occured, and showed to CPU's fighting each other, on that level. Then it saved as a replay under the same file, and when you watch it, it swiches from the fake to the real. It's pretty creepy, anyway.
ケンデウラ
It's normal. .bin files are scripts, and if the script is read wrong, that happens.
ケンデウラ
Forgot to say, this happens alot on stages made by you.
HylianHeroX
It's probably because it does not take an actual video of the fight, but records what movements are made. Your Wii most likely got confused for a second.
Mr.Freakshow
ya ive seen this happen before
sometimes the game doesnt read some commands in the replays right
JohnshiBRPG
I have never tried it, but I did win the 1 Hp flower match with all 3 computers! XD

[Shift Key]HOLY fuck I JUST shit MY PANTS

PANDA, I RE CREATED YOUR STAGE EXACTLY. I PLAYED KIRBY AS FALCO AND FALCO JUST WENT ON THE LADDER. I NEVER TOUCHED A DAMN LADDER!?!?

IM GONNA RECORD IT AND YOUTUBE IT, HOLY shit MAN YOU MADE A BROKEN STAGE

[/Shift Key]
Zephyr82
Sorry for the lame question, but how do u make replays?
Wolflink64
This is awesome. XD

I think it's a glitch, because I noticed, at approximately the same time, at the beginning, you did the D Air at the same time, but in the glitched one, something went wrong, and Kirby got the hit off. Then it freaked out, because you weren't supposed to die, so it resimulated it or something.

Nice stage, BTW. I wouldn't worry about it that much.

Holy shit that is freaky. If you put that replay or the stage up for download I'll test it out.

Some people have pretty much figured out the problem correctly. Only the button presses get saved (to reduce the size of the save file), so if even one thing happens that didn't happen in the real match, the rest of it will be screwed up. Like you won't be in the same place, but the button presses will remain the same and it will look like your character is randomly doing stuff.

I'm pretty sure this happens a lot on Spear Pillar because of all of the random interference Palkia and Dialga cause. At least that was the case when I first heard about this kind of glitch. Although this is apparently a reading error, because random interference cant happen on a custom stage.

That's awesome and creepy at the same time 16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
Zarroc96
Well, that's definitely wierd. I've never had that happen before, which is strange that you got it. Hmm...
Serpent01
This is old, It doesnt actually record your replays.

It just saves the button configurations.
peteypiranha128
Only one option Panda... You must destroy that disc. It is obviously possessed with a suicidal spirit
