Legion Cup II Tournament

A tournament hosted by the LC comitttee

4 weeks ago, the first tournament of the legions crowned a champion. The final was a fierce battle between the Revolutionists and the Meta-Pirates in a rematch. The Revolutionists manage to pull through and redeemed themselves, capturing the cup in the process.Now the Legion Cup is making its way across the net to the Online Legion Hall forums readying itself for round 2 and a new set of challengers arise to de-throne the Revolutionist. Who will get that call to glory? Who will even get the call? This is the Legion Cup.....for pride, honor and glory.

Tournament Structure

The tournament will be divided into 2 stages: Preliminary and Main Draws. In the Preliminary Draw, teams will be paired up with each other to determine 8 winning teams that will qualify into the Main Draw of the tournament. The Main Draw of the tournament will be a 8 team double elimination tournament. The main draw is just a continuation of the tournament and re-seeding won't be necessary. This means that Qualifier 1 vs Qualifier 2, Qualifier 3 vs Qualifier 4, Qualifier 5 vs Qualifier 6 and Qualifier 7 vs Qualifier 8 in the first round of the Main tournament.

Tournament rounds are 4 days long and will end on the 3rd day @ 11:59 pm EST although an extra day may be granted if stuff happens. It is recommended for clans to meet on a certain time and complete it in one day. The clans will have 2 days in between rounds to prepare lineups for the next round. A team may be subject to disqualification if found to slowing down the battle's progress. If you set up a time to play and failed to show up at that time before letting your opponent know is disrespectful and will favour may lean towards the opponent.

How are matches played in the Legion Cup?

Matches in the Legion Cup Tournament will be played using the crew battle format. This is how a Legion Cup crew battle will work:

Every round except for the finals will be a 5v5 crew battle with each player having 3 stocks (15 stocks per team). The finals will feature a 7v7 crew battle (21 stocks per team).
Each captain will pm their starters and 3 bench players before the round starts
The starting match in each round will be played by Pos #1 players on each team on an agreed or randomized NEUTRAL stage.
The losing player of each match is eliminated and replaced by the next player the captain sends out.
The winning player will still continue to fight with the same character but will start with the remaining number of stocks left from the last match.
Incoming players will always choose the next stage to be played on, from the NEUTRAL or COUNTERPICK stage lists.
Dave's stupid rule: A stage cannot be played twice in the same battle unless both players agreed.
The team that can eliminate all the opposing players wins the match and advances.
NO ITEMS in each match.

Some other notes:

mario766 rule: A player that has been placed on a team's lineup can only play on that team for the rest of the tournament
players that have been replaced by a bench player cannot enter the battle again

So signups will last until July 29th or once we get 16 teams. 8 spots will be reserved for the Top 4 teams in LC I (Heaven's Champions, Meta-Pirates, Revolutionists and Organization Oblivion) and OLF-only teams until July 23rd. The remaining spots are on a first come-first serve basis. Once teams are determine the live draw will take place a day or two later. Only the leaders and co-leaders can signup the clan so I definately know that the clan is participating. The tournament proper will start in late July/early August.

L-Bracket Semi-finals Match-ups and Results

Lineups would need to pm'd before the round start time and won't be revealed until both team do so. If it's 3 days late, the team will be dq. If you want to you can make a thread for your LC2 match. Just place [LC2] in the title so I'll know it's for the tournament.

Most likely people will post results here so when reporting a match result, the winner should post it like this so it's easier to notice in the thread:

My Smash History Story.

Smash started out for me when I was 7 when it came out in 1999 as a present for having a sickness from the neighboor's dirty dog. I got a flea infection from him and had bumps and was temporalily paralyzed from the waist down. My Mom had bought me the game and I didn't even ask for it and I played all that night because it was so fun and good. That's how I became a smasher.

In 2002 after getting my Gamecube for Christmas and got Melee and loved Smash even more. I wasn't an experienced/competitive gamer at any game until I was 13. I went experienced/competitive at Smash at 14. I regret not being on the tourney scenes at an early age but had life complications.

Now I get Brawl at 15 but turned 16 recently and go to a lot of tournies with Cyber, I'm determined to make myself known as a really great/l33t Mario user and I intend to achieve that. I've been/am a Mario user in every Smash game by the way.

I've been wanting to make this for frickin' forever. Okay, say you're in a crew battle, you know who our opponent is gonna be, though you have know idea what's a good counter for his player. Here's da place. Add what you think are good counters for all these characters. When adding, don't just say "Oh yea, it seems like this guy does well against this guy", try and say why. More than one person can say something about the same player. Technically, you could post counters for all of them, but only if you have good points. I will be updating this list as I get replies:

Bowser-MetaKnight. MK can completely dominate Bowser in the air, even more so than other characters. Bowsers slow movements and laggy attacks leave him open for MK to run in and knock him around. Even if MK's Fsmash is too slow to effectively KO Bowser, he can still have him off the ledge in a second. Metaknight's superior recovery allows him to edgeguard well, and still not fear being dragged down with Bowser. whereas on the flip side, Bowser's weak recovery is open to edgeguard easily.

Captain falcon-

DK-DDD. DK's power lies in his bair for is aerial game, and, well, Dedede can easily outrange his bair, and since DK is so huge, Dedede can easily grab him and finish him with a fsmash.Dedede can infinite grab DK if timed right, and if that doesn't happen he can still be chain grabbed to hell and back before he has to stop. Also DK doesn't have much in the air on Dedede, who won't let him back on the ledge after he is knocked off. Ending a chaingrab with a forward throw gets DK off, and Dedede can keep him off with either a Bair or Fair. DK's lesser recovery just flat out gets owned. DK can space pretty good with range on his smashes, but Dedede can always hold him at bay with a Ftilt or even a Dtilt.

Diddy-

DDD-Pit. Pit's projectiles make Dedede an easy target, because he can effectively sit back and rack up the damage with his arrows. Being a quick character, he can stay out of range of Dedede's grabs, and still control the battle. The air isn't the best postition for Pit against Dedede, so if the battle is on the ground, Dedede will have trouble dealing with those quick attacks. Pit's only problems is his own lightness, so he has to be careful around Dedede's potent smashes. And Dedede being a fairly heavy character may make him harder to KO, not to mention his awesome Up B.

Fox-Game and Watch: Fox's power lies in his aerial game, which Game & Watch completely trumps, mainly because his nair can keep Fox from approaching from both sides, and Fox has a very hard time comboing him because of his uair and aaa.

Falco-

Game and Watch-

Ganondorf-Metaknight. Metaknight is an easy counter for most heavy characters, so this one isn't much different from Bowser's. Ganondorf's real power resides in smashes and his down-B for some easy damage, only decent in the air, and a pretty good recovery makes him one of the better heavy weights. He can also space the opponent decently. But Metaknight can take advantage of the slow powerhouse and be in and out for damage. His Mach Tornado and over B is an easy way to rack up the percentage without taking any of his own. His superior recovery allows him to be hit heavily by Ganondorf at a mild percentage and not fear coming back. Also, Ganondorf cannot even hope to edgeguard MK, where MK can push him back off the ledge and still easily recover.

Lucario--Sonic. Sonic may have trouble with Lucario's reach, but his speed will win it for him. He can use his down B to Uair combo to get damage, and other combos such as his Uthrow to Uair. Sonic can rack up damage pretty fast on Lucario, and Lucario's only hope is to use his faster tilts. Aura Sphere could be a problem because you can get KOed pretty easily if it connects at even a semi-high percentage. But, it moves slow so you can react quickly. If nothing else, a standing up B to a Dair gets you over it and back ready to fight. Sonic's running A is fast and long enough to hit Lucario over and over again, and leaves him open for an aerial. While Lucario's aerials are superior to Sonic, Sonic's speed on the ground will slowly but surely wear Lucario down.

R.O.B.- Snake. Snake is a far range character, with his grenades, mines, missle laucher, and up+a. R.O.B. can't put much real damage without using his smashes/aerials, which he needs to get very close up for. A R.O.B. could just camp by using his beams and gyros, though Snake outcamps him by far.

Samus-Olimar. Olimar not only has Pikmin to absorb the blows of most of her projectiles, he also cannot easily be zair'd, and many of her attacks go above Olimar and miss him.

Wolf--Jigglypuff. You have to watch out for fsmash and the blaster, but if you can WoP him, you can consistantly get KOs at low %s thanks to his crap recovery.

Yoshi-

Zelda-

Fox. Fox has his neutral B which really prevents Zelda from camping him, especially on flat stages like Final Destination or Smashville. Zelda isn't much of a close in fighter, and Fox is. His speed makes a hit-and-run strategy work very well, and Din's Fire is easily dodged or shielded.
Metaknight. Metaknights speed comboed with quick and rapid attacks makes him very hard to deal with. He can keep the battle aerial, and completely own Zelda there. Even on the ground, a running A to initiate battle is devestating, because he can combo out of that, and Zelda has to react fast with probably her neutral B. If Metaknight keeps the battle up close, Zelda will have troube. His Mach Tornado works great to put up easy percentage, because she has no real way to counter it.

Want a replay that's completely unique, want something crazy, or do you want to test my total skill?

I've decided to open challenges NOT ONLY for real players via Wifi, but i'm also available for CPU challenges, or special brawls that i can send replays of only me vs. 1-3 CPU opponents.

just in case if anyone is interested in making up a brawl, I will like people to send me challenges using this form...

I personally hope I can help people use their imaginations to come up with something new, and just because I do them doesn't mean I'm the ONLY one. how about we try playing a completely new kind of brawl, instead of limiting each other to "NO items, FD" tourney stuff... let's face it, Brawl has a ton of new feature involved in the main game, LET'S USE THEM!!

-I plan to host creative Multiplayer Challenges in the future, starting with 1V1 battles, sometime next week, I will be challenging some of the various challengers and posting the results, and posting feedback as I would an ordinary challenge. the Replays, however, are completely up to my opponent whether I send it or not. if these multiplayer challenges turn out perfect, I'll start letting others challenge me, as for Xoftheuniverse, that's up to him.

-I am now taking requests for foreign Musical Brawls, in these brawls I will be having NO sound effects from my TV, just music, and in these musicals I brawl while trying to stay in sync with the music. You are also allowed to have me do musicals with your own tunes, but KEEP IN MIND THAT I'M KINDA CHOOSY ABOUT THE SPECIFIC MUSIC I LISTEN TO!! Plus, unlike regular challenges, I have a limit to the amount I am willing to do. limited to FIVE MUSICAL REQUESTS A WEEK.

-I have now decided to partner up with fellow brawler, Xoftheuniverse, so now if some of you have some crazy brawls that I can't beat, be sure to expect a response from him when I send it over for him to try! Now there are two challenge takers in Brawl, so now even some challenges I drop will get a second chance

-Every once in a while, I will send out a musical brawl, using the music that happens to be in the game meaning I muted the sound effects and balanced it towards music in the options menu... I'll also post about it when I send it out, so if you encounter an odd replay that almost sounds in sync with the music, maximize the music balance and enjoy!

-you MUST be subscribed in order to recieve Replays from me, occaisionally I might be asking an occasional subscriber to try a chllenge that I personally make every once in a while, so be aware of that. I look forward to seeing even more creativity with this extra benefit.

- in a Multiplayer challenge, ALL PLAYERS MUST obey the rules, and there WILL NOT be any rules with names to lock the rules to one person (meaning, if I were to say, you MUST use the FS to claim victory, then if ANY player claims victory without the FS, then it would count as "voided" and I will end the game immediately, even if I'm at fault. if the challenge get's voided THREE times by one player, they will automatically lose and I will post the results for my case as voided victory or loss.

Last time, I thought the cap was 169, so now that it is confirmed to 169, I had to remake the equation.
It is:
[0.006*H+1]N=D
Now I will fill in the variables.
[0.006*170+1]13=26 (you have to round)

H=Health.
N=Normal damage inflicted at 0%.
D=Damage inflicted.

To begin, this will be my first public tourney. I've had this idea stuck in my head for awhile now, but its time to make it a reality.

Welcome to Nsider's Best! Only skilled individuals are allowed to join, and to make sure of that, this is the first tourney that I saw that will have a try-out phase. Yes, try-outs. But that's for later. Right now, I'm just trying to say that anyone is welcome to try-out for this tourney. I don't care if I've played you before, or you are already revered as one of the best players on the Smash Boards, you must try-out for this tourney. Even my fellow judges, if they want to be in this tourney, must go to a different judge and be tested.

If you manage to impress us, then I will add you to the list.

There will be four judges available to test you in the try-out process.

-Switch (or Letterbomb)

You request a try-out match with any of these people. If they find you skilled enough to be in this tourney, then they will let you know right off the bat (I trust their judgement), and they will contact me to put you on the list. Only 32people will be allowed in the preliminaries! Then the preliminaries will dwindle the number down to 16. Once the list fills up, the try-out process is over. If you just got done with your match when suddenly the list fills up, your entry will be ignored. So make sure you try-out A.S.A.P.

The rules for the try-out games are as follows:

-3 stocks
-No Time Limit
-NO ITEMS
-Tourney Stages
-NO Counterpick stages

Even though it may seem like it, you don't have to beat any of us. Your priority is to show off your skills to make yourself look worthy. If you Self-Destruct a lot, that's not my problem. My judges have a right to turn you off, but if they're kind, they can give you another chance. But really, if I were any of you, I would like to win my matches. That would seriously boost your chances.

In the try-out phase, all I want to see are tourney stages being played on. I pray my judges will be true to that. I don't care what kind of arguments you have, Luigi's Mansion, Bridge of Eldin, Delfino Plaza, etc. are not allowed. And I'm pretty sure most of you, personally, wouldn't like to lose because you got caught in a wall infinite. And because Pokemon Stadium is sooo iffy, I'm taking that out too. Corneria's ceilings are very high, and it has that blasted (lol) gun on the left side and ships coming out of no-where. Sorry.

Finally, the try-out phase will last one week, starting today. It will end on Saturday night at 9:00 est. or it will end once the list gets filled with 32 people. Once upon a time, long, long lonmg ago, there were a three heroes of the world. Theyre names were sonic, mario, and samsu. they had a big world of magic and cool items that were baned in tourmenents. They were all a lone so they made some friend. these friends included all of nintendos allstars, snake, and pit. They decided to have a giant fight just like all frends do.

Samus said "hey guys, we shuld do this on final destination!" but mario had different thinks. "no way man!" he explained! "that stage isnt fair to the no-projectile chars.!" k sad samus. "maybe smashville?" "alright said mraio"

they fought and fought and fought until one person lost all theyre stocks. then they fought some more.

then a giant hand came from the sky. IT WAS MASTER HAND!!!!! "mwuahahahaha!" sed mastr hand. How do yuo laugh?" asked pikachu

Heaven's Champions vs Organization Oblivion

So this is HC's second war and it's OO's first war. Organizing these clan wars is fun to do so I got to make the thread yay. I'm sure OO will do their best considering it's their first war. I know I will give it my all in this war because you never know when good things come to an end Most wars on here seem to be with clans that have a clear advantage over the other. I think this clan should be close so lets see how it goes.

Rules are simple: There will be 30 stocks to be distributed evenly among the players. This means this will be a 10 vs 10 battle. Both clans will choose one pre determined person to fight. Those two people will kick off the Clan War.

Once one player loses all stocks the clan will send in another player from their line-up to continue the battle from where it left off. Every person may select one character to use for the entire war. No switching of characters will be allowed.

All players will be expected to be on when the war begins. The war will begin July 23rd and should only last 1-3 days. This should really only take one day though.

All items must be off before the matches begin.

Stages will be decided upon the opponents before the match begins. Loser picks the stage that will be played on.

I say Metaknight, since unlike Fox, his only real flaw is his weight, which isn't too much of a problem since he has the best recovery in the game.

I really don't know much about SSB Pika though.

Welcome to the Chain Chomp Competition #9. This is a team competition with no elimination. To find out how this works, see the 2nd post. This will consist of at least 10 teams, and 26 teams at most. This is a competition with smash balls, so friendly fire is OFF. But there is a little twist, you may only chose 3 characters to brawl with through out the whole competition, so pick wisely. And last, in order to get a good pirze for the winners there is a 20 rupee entry fee per team, or 10 rupees per person.

I was doing 4player battles last night with my girlfriend and a few other people last night. She chose random....

She got Snake. Half the time I believe she has no idea what she is doing...but I let my guard down mutliple times to be ko'd by a sparatic grenade that she kept spamming. Or an wrong placed AAA combo...

In other words she did well using Snake. Would she stand a chance if I was just concentrating on her? No...but she enjoyes being Snake. So I dont mind if she KO's me....

And its kind of funny to watch her get blown up by her own mine.

I’m glad to announce that the Post of the Week has made a return to the
Smash boards. As successful as it was, this POTW contest will follow
the format of it’s ancestor. 1 head judge (for now myself), and three
to four judges.

Nominations should be given between Monday-Friday.To nominate, post a link with the name of the post, and the author of the post. On Saturday nominations are closed. The winner will be announced on Sunday. Naturally, as this is the smash board, all posts
have to be related to some aspect of the smash series. There is quite a
wealth of subjects to write about in this POTW, considering how huge
the series is.

Rules
Rules will develop along with this competition. For now, they are just the minimum to make sure this contest runs nice and smooth.

3.Only winners may use the respective add ons. If you are caught breaking this rule, you will not be able to enter the POTW for a month. If any one abuses this rule a second time, they will not be able to enter the POTW.

So, who do you think is the character that deserves more respect than the NS2 smash board gives him?

I'd easily say Ness. He has good aerials, if it weren't for priority. His back throw is absurdly strong, many people don't even realize that. It's a great killer. PK thunder kills heavies at like 90, and PK Flash can actually be used pretty well.

Second I've give to Jiggs. While rest was nerfed, it still kills around 70, and combos very well out of short hopped dair. Her aerial mobility is possibly the best in the game, she can combo pretty well, and has a great recovery.

So who do ya say?

When I play aganist my friends we're usually even during the match and at the end they usually deal the final blow cause I use DK and Ganny and they use faster characters. Does this happen to you?

When, because of lag, you suicide, or are unable to recover from a meteor, your opponent acts as though some great victory was achieved.

This is an awsome stage for a Chaotic FFA.
Normally, Though it didn't happen this time, you will have People will shoot underneath the platform caught on the spikes, where they take massive damage!
Fighting computers here is no fun, because obviously they get stuck. I also have to tweak it a little bit, Items have a tendancy to end up on the spikes where nobody can get them.

Really Simple level, It takes Fall through platforms to the limit.
Its Fun, and Its not unplayable like a stage consisting only of springs is.
The very top is Right up next to the top of the stage, so fighting up there is dangerous.
Down at the very bottom offers some more normal fighting area. However, If you kock your oponent up, Chances are you might have to go up after them.
It allows for interesting combos and stuff that woudnt otherwise be possible.

In The Hearth
Hey, This is an awsome stage designed EXACTLY like a Forge works.
Air gets pumped through the side, Goes Up to the bowl shaped Hearth, And Ashes go straight down where the falling block is.
Ok, there are a few places were the design doesnt exactly mirror that of a Forge, but its as close as anybodys going to get.
Its a pretty fun level, With a nice variety of fighting surfaces.

This one actually turned out better than I thought it would when I first drew it out. Its really simple, and has a tendancy to produce really engaging battles.

Mirror
A simple shape, And the Negative of that shape Stacked back to back. Makes for a really interesting stage, and due to the shape I chose, A tendancy to turn out Really high damage battles. Even fighting CPUs here is a real blast!

Chamber
This is Probably my favorite custom stage. Battles here are ALWAYS epic! Which is suprising considering its size. The Angles edges Keep people fighting in the middle.
Its difficult to defend yourself when standing on them, and you can't grab the edge to recover. So People rarely get Easy "Cheap" kills ( Like Edgehogging ) The Inclined sides also help keep people from flying off the sides so easy.
The stage is very tall, And it has a whole other world up there. There are edges up there for people who like to play games on the edge, Even though its not likely to score you an easy kill.
Again, I think is my best custom stage. Its awsome

Chinox
Chinox means like Bowl or strainer or something. This stage is basicly a Giant Bowl!
Um, this is a good stage for just a regular brawl aginst somebody who likes to projectile spam. Also, Rolling crates, Bumpers, and shells are loads of fun here.

Ice Temple
This stage reminded me a lot of the Ice cave in Ocarina of Time. Its fun to play in, But it can get a little frustrating. Its Very tall, so you can survive powerful hits as long as you manage to make it back towards the center. and you have to watch out because you can't grab the edge.

Gladiator
Yeah, its basicly two pillars on which to fight.
The spring and block thiny in the middle helps to ensure that you can get from one side to the other easily, But it doesnt leave any place to stand.
The two sides have multiple levels so that Projectile spamers wont have a huge advantage.

Remember that noob darkness surge that was on that night? Yeah well, it was volt. I know this because he tried out for MP. I matched the FC he gave me to play him and Volts FC and it's the same. He made the alt and tryed out for MP. He was rejected based on the fact that he sucks and I almost beat him with ****ing ness in one match and won 4/5 total. My Link 2 stocked his pikachu btw. ANYWAYS, so yeah. Good thing he sucks because if he made it in he would have revealed himself and orgasmed.

So I did a bunch of basic brawl matches, Never won a single one.

At the end of the matches I check the damage given stuff.
I was usually dealing out 400% + damage a match, Everyone else usually got less than 200%

Its retarded!!!!

It has nothing to do with how good you are. It has everything to do with how many KO moves your character has or something messed up like that.

Anyway, Eventually two people quit, and I end up fighting the guy who kept winning in a 1on1 match, I Got him to 107% without taking a hit before he DCed >.>
